Interesting, doing some tinkering, and found gatherosstate from AT will give more information in a prompt:
"Tool to collect the genuine state"
    gatherosstate.exe /p <Partner name> <output directory>

However, can't get it to write anything still.

Guessing, but sounds like bad download? Done 2 and worked both times so far.

Why? Because we can! And i'd like a quick easy way to continue to do W10 upgrades... if it means running AT tool with predropped ESD, then fine. But still, I want to know more? :D

But..But..Bat has real world life. He has dog, :g:and even wife and kids and all that kinda stuff that's supposed to be important

Naw 007 it's not a bad download since it's multiple downloads on different PCs using different Host drives and OS versions :g:Starting to look like M$ has got Bat's number o_O MOBO ID #'s in their Servers :31: Unless I try N versions, I have Home and Pro on all the PCs in the House, so I might as well quit for a while.

i think ms will continue the free upgrade. once they sell a license, its a one off purchase. but they can sell your data off many times to any company that wants it and at least equal, or surpass the cost of a single license.

Re: OP Title line "Will Microsoft offer Windows 10 in a free, unrestricted f. some time after July 29th?"

Given the original question specified unrestricted, I'd say the answer is pretty clear at "No". However, given that Microsoft had said the free offer would end on July 29, and now they've amended this position, I still contend there is precedent for them to again offer the free and unrestricted program. Especially if their marketing guys say it would make them more money. As the Ood said, "This song is ending...but the story never ends."

    @Enthousiast

Well I managed to get it upgraded to Windows 10 Pro. Instead of Media Creation Tools binaries I used 10240 ESD which I converted to ISO ( I decided to use 10240 because you explained that i got oem:Dm key for home and because of RAA007's post #52 saying that 10586 and later upgrades are gonna read that oem:Dm key).

This means that their servers for activation definitely still work, since I did not use GenuineTicket or anything like that. I used same method as before 29/7.

But maybe it is still to early to call it a "surprise". Question remains what happens when I get 1511 build update from Windows Update. Is it going to read the oem:Dm and revert me back to Home edition or it will stay Pro?
I am also wondering what does this mean for my computer actually, do I now have 2 activation options (Did this process created HWID activation on MS servers?)?

    1) If I install Windows 10 Home, it will read oem:Dm key and activate it?
    2) If I install Windows 10 Pro now as a clean install will it recognize that I had previously activated Windows 10 Pro on this machine and activate it without hustle?

    Any ideas?

When you now clean install or upgrade from 10240 Pro with a Multiple Editions 10586.0 and up iso you'll end up with 10Home again. To clean install 10586 you will have to use a ei.cfg file to force setup to show all editions in the wim. It's possible to get HWID's for all Home and Pro (+N) editions on all machines. But Daz thinks that the HWID's for pro on a system with a home oem:Dm key, and doing a clean install, won't work after the free offer stops (if i understood him correct).

    You're lucky, it shouldn't activate anymore! ;)

You can install either Home or Pro now your HWID has a license against both - my laptop activates on both Home or Pro now as well. You have to select the version you want to install. If you already have 10240 Pro, then 10586 will update you to Pro.

Never thought of it that way, but that's a pretty good analogy: you get "trapped" by all the sweetness and eye candy before you realize you're in a pot of boiling water.

Succes on that on a system with an oem:Dm for 10 Home.

thanks to amd having xp 32bit drivers, xp and 7x64 can coexist on my pc. the install size of 7x64 over xp is just crazy. i dont use any ms inbuilt stuff in either. i strip both barebone and 7 has, apart from driver support, no advantages over xp and i can do everything i need on either os. w10, so i have seen heard and read has more bloat and more crappola in it. eye candy. and as i remove eye candy from xp n 7, why the hell would i use w10 when even xp does everything i want?
