The ei.cfg option on 10586 and up still works to get pro installed on home oem:Dm systems.

    Dear All,
    Happy New Year.....

Can anybody confirm that, using this method, upgraded to Win10 from KMS activated (MTK activated) Win8/8.1? I know, kms activated will not work, but just in case anybody?

    Thanks in advance
    Manu

Two weeks ago I activated a KMS activated Win8.1 and migrated to Win10 : I just changed the key with the Win10 Pro key and my Win10 is activated with a definitive retail activation.

PS : it was a real upgrade.

On genuinely activated 8.1 laptops the genuineticket.xml should work, on 8.1 KMS activated it won't, you'll have to do a real upgrade.

Thank you so much for your reply. So if Windows 8.1 upgraded to Windows 10 using normal upgrade method, even if the internet is on at the first boot, Windows gets activated with DE? Because, It never worked for me even I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1.
    Or any other methods required?
    Thanks

What do you mean by "I just changed the key with the Win10 Pro key" What key? Retail key? Or default key instead?
    Thanks

His windows activation showed he was activated by a MAK and he entered the generic Pro HWID key, ending on 3V66T but that wasn't really needed, when he had done a clean install afterward it would say: activated by a Digital License.

would it be possible to activate windows 10 pro on a laptop that came with windows 10 home? What I did was I wiped my drive, I installed windows 7 ultimate and activated with SLIC which was already in the bios, then tried to do the free upgrade to windows 10 pro but once windows connects to the internet it shows windows 10 home activated. would it make a difference if I do this again from the start with a different SLIC ? or am I stuck with windows 10 Home?

You mean installing 8.1 Pro on a 8.1 Home system? Afaik that also needs an ei.cfg but not because of the oem:Dm for home, just to be able to select the desired edition during setup.

    Afaik, win 8.1 Multiple Editions iso's can't readout/use the oem:Dm bioskey.

Yes, but would it help/ allow/ enable activation of Pro instead of Home? Cause we have a few laptops with Win 8 Home/ SL editions and the only way to make them Pro is via KMS. Is there a way to make them Pro?

Is there some way to make their BIOS/ SLIC become Pro?

To be short, no there is no possibility (afaik) to inject an oem:Dm key. Most simple way is to use a kms solution.

    hi,
I am upgrading from Windows 7 Ultimate and I am confused about selection of the iso file.
Can I use latest iso file downloaded using Windows Media Creator Tool, or should I use only 10240/10586/14393 ?
(the instructions on first page of this thread says 10240/10586/14393.)

This thread is meant to avoid a real upgrade. But you best can use the latest one (14393 atm, MCT also will provide 14393).
