On the VM, I didn't select to keep all files and folders.

On the PC, I didn't select to keep all files and folders. It didn't activate. Windows activation status (System and Security > System) shows: "Connect to the internet to activate Windows"

On Settings > Activation, Activation status is "Unable to reach Windows activation servers"

The PC is connected to the internet. slmgr/dlv shows Product Key Channel: Volume:MAK

I performed an upgrade yesterday using W81 update 3 VL, KMS activated > W10 TH2 1511 Build 10586.164 Apr 2016 and it was activated after the upgrade.

After upgrading from 8.1 KMS to 10586 (aka1511) and you now upgrade to 15063.xxx or do a clean 15063.xxx install, it would say it's activated by a HWID.

I've been using the gatherosstate.exe dated 2/11/2016 forever because it has always worked. Recently I noticed Creator clean installs no longer activate with genuineticket.xml I was getting from booting off an activated Windows 7 Pro image.
If I use an older Windows 10, like before Creator's, it does work. I tried it today on two systems that wouldn't activate by installing a 2016 version of Windows 10, then the genuineticket.xml activated fine. At least I can confirm that using an earlier Windows 10 does work as a work around for this issue, "unable to reach Windows activation servers" or notification reason 0xC004F034 in slmgr /dlv
This adds a whole extra step and time so I will need to next try using a gatherosstate.exe dated 3/18/2017 from the Creator's iso next time and see if it avoids this, so I can go right from Windows 7 to clean install of 15063. Or I may have to start using a 8.1 image to begin with instead of 7, 7 is getting harder to get onto new hardware anyway.

Last month it still worked with 15063.xxx clean install using the ticket, i will test it again (most likely i get a win 7 SP1 system to install 10 on tonight, it doesn't have seen 10 yet).

It can be a result of not installed drivers on the 7 install? It can result in a different HWID hash.

Sorry but i'm very confused even more now about this HWID thing.

What happens if I have windows 7 in my computer. I do this HWID thing i then take out the current hard drive and place a SSD and install windows 10. Can place this HWID file in there and activate Windows 10?

    This is very confusing.

I've exchanged hdd's for hdd's/ssd's and the HWID was still valid.

when you obtain HWID on a machine, you can replace as much HD as you want, your win10 will be automatically activated in case of fresh installation on the new HD on the condition that you install the same win10 version and that internet is ON on the machine.

I just tested the genuineticket.xml on an Acer Aspire Z5610 AIO Touch PC and it worked.

Installed Win 7 SP1 Ultimate (genuinely activated by slic + certs + key), generated the ticket by using the "gatherosstate.exe" from my 15063.483 updated AiO ISO and installed 15063.483 Pro, implemented the ticket as Yen described, on next reboot went online, activation reported: "activation servers can't be reached". Did another reboot and all was activated (sometimes it takes some time) :)

Couldn't upgrade VirtualBox guest with W7 Ultimate activated with DAZ to Windows 10 Pro using the gatherosstate route.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

I wanted to know that is it still possible to upgrade to windows 10 pro from windows 7 ultimate (activated by windows loader by Daz) and get a permanent digital licence for windows 10 pro?

and if it's possible then can we upgrade using Win 10 pro iso file, or we need to download the windows upgrade tool/media creation tool and upgrade using that.

    Thanks.

    Hello guys,

First of all, I'm thankful for all of your messages here as it really helped me in the past.

I'm now building a new PC with 2 drives: one SATA HDD (WD Black) and one NVmE M.2 SSD (Samsung). I want to have Windows 10 Pro on the SSD drive, obviously. However, I just want to be sure that what I'll be doing will work, hence I'm seeking your advice.

1st option (I do not want to do)
    - Install W7 on SSD then activate then clean install W10 on same SSD (with Genuineticket).
    - This will be really annoying because I have to install NVmE drivers, modify the ISO (because NVmE not suported by W7), super long, etc.

Hence my 2nd option (what I want to do)
    - Install W7 on HDD then activate.
    - Activate and install all drivers for NVmE, etc.
    - Generate Genuineticket.
    - Clean install W10 on SSD (other drive) offline and paste ticket above in ClipSVC.

I'm believing option 2 is best because from what I understand, HWID is not linked directly to HDD, and even though it was, I think the HWID would be the same (in the end, I just switch installation drives).

Please correct if I'm wrong or give me some advice, I'm here to learn :)

    Many thanks guys!!
    Keep rocking the web!

    @Grosjean

Yes the 2nd option will be the better of the options. Saves a bit of unnecessary wear on the SSD. :)

The HWID is tied to the motherboard, more specifically I think the LAN or MAC address of the LAN is one of the factors. I have changed CPU's/ram and HDD's and no loss of activation. I did change the MAC address on one motherboard as a test and that did trigger a reactivation!

@mxman2k Amazing discovery, thanks for replying! I don't plan on doing MAC spoofing so I should be fine :) Very interesting, though...

Since you answered me kindly, I got another question now. I was also thinking of using DAZ Loader to activate W7. As my new Mobo will be UEFI (Z270A), I thought about Enabling Legacy+Disabling Secure Boot when installing W7.
Once done, activated and everything, with GenuineTicket generated, I thought about re-enabling UEFI and SecureBoot then clean install W10.

My question is: Won't this mess up things? How can I be sure to format in GPT once I install W10? Isn't it better for me to install W7 on HDD MBR, without SSD in, and then put only SSD in UEFI/Secure mode, and finally re-connect HDD that I'll format then within W10?

Some people say you can also remove "bootmgr.efi" from W7 Official Iso so that you force MBR... Overall, I just want to be sure to do everything the most proper way :)

    What do you reckon guys?
    Thanks!

Re Daz's Loader, as long as you not using Secure Boot ON/UEFI mode, set CSM to enabled to use MBR. You will be ok, i did my MSI PC-MATE board using that method, as a SLIC mod can be fussy on the MSI newer boards, mine just wouldnt 'take' so used the loader way and I have a Pro Digital License now. :)

As long as you set the secure boot off, and CSM (compatible mode) so that it acts like a normal bios and no fancy GPT formats etc then you be golden.

Once you have established the HWID for your chosen Edition (home/pro) you can then set the BIOS to UEFI/Secure boot etc to enable GPT formating for the SSD. That does not affect the HWID. :)
