What have child p0rn to do with backdoor? Literally nothing. Such people are detected/busted by the fact that they made login mistakes, Ip mistakes and and and, it's not the OS which is the hole, again it's because old protocols. And at some point everyone makes mistakes soon or later.
Missing the point, not child porn but the method they use to find those doing the perv things, The story states it is Microsoft accessing to your pc without your knowledge. Not your IP tracking the sites you were at
Maybe read entire article before you spead lies, this is because OneDrive. OneDrive never said or wrote that they support child porn or that they are high security services. Theoretically if something is against TOS, the services can remotely delete your files, except if it's high security services and then not even the provider knows what files are on their servers because they would be encrypted. Any program can be 'hacked' in theory. This has nothing to do with the OS. OneDrive not obfuscate your IP so it's easy to backtrack the original uploader, which they did.
That would be fine if One Drive existed in 2008 (read story, this happened in '08) The porn pervs exposed is only the result of M$ having unknown access in Windows 7
OneDrive exist since Aug. 1 2007. The first version had no encryption at all and they changed several times their TOS. They have no access .. otherwise it's claiming without any proof and I can't take you serious anymore. What you call 'access' are hacks or holes because OS configuration, software problems (in this case OneDrive) or other 'tricks'. It has again nothing to do with the OS.
o.k. so it was called "Skydrive" back then. It's still a M$ product in a M$ O.S. It will always be of my opinion that Microsoft currently and has had a backdoor since Vista
A backdoor is not a TOS, if you read the TOS to that time you had notices that this isn't a high security product and that they can (btw same as in Android right now) remotely delete or trace files/users. Telling that the OS has a backdoor is nothing but wrong without any evidence.
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/dn800983.aspx If there would be an backdoor within the OS someone had already made much money. Even if they would (according to some creepy theories) reject it, a lot of other magazines and TV shows would pay a lot to get such an story. In fact MS now has a 'higher' paid bug bounty program than google. Let's find some bugs.
Wikileaks latest leaks. Shows that they build an entire organisation to spy. They coded own kernel drivers for w-lan, usb and maybe more. They talked about how to infect you in the first place with fake AV's, fake VLC updates and more, which would work on all OS'es. So this is again a proof that Linux is not better and that the so called backdoors people want to find in any OS are mostly just faked software by CIA/NSA/... . Don't give them too much credits. At the end it's easier to infect the apps instead of entire OS. CIA noobs come challenge chefy ...
I have been pwned. All the while I'm avoiding Windows 10 to help protect my privacy, I have a Samsung smart tv in my living room
They can spy on almost everything which has a active internet or GSM connection, Smart TV's, Smartphones, Cameras, hell there even exist microwaves with internet ... They not need any OS to track you. Also don't forget that Google bought one of the biggest 'home living' companies, so they also know which room temperatures you currently have. I think the OS is one of the less problematically thing, as said if there would be something someone had already mentioned it. MS added also several protection mechanism (new ones) in v10 so why should they do that if they really wanted to 'spy' on you. Makes no sense. First what security experts would do is to analyze that and test against several samples if it holds what it promise. There is/was data collection but that was coming from software (new ones) like Cortana, the thing is no one can say if it's build to spy on you, since it was introduced with internet connection to submit your results ... that's nothing new google does this since years ... So people should see it from both sides, on one you want cool products but on the other also maximum security and at some point you need make exceptions.
But Cortana is more than just a "software" it is deeply integrated into the o.s.. A user can't simply turn Cortana off or even uninstall it without a third party software or knowledge of the registry
