updated discorg linky with discussion ongoing https://discordapp.com/channels/376796266123755540/382944433278156800 but it worked! , hence people are still coming back here to find "miracle- revival news"... Don't get me wrong there are plenty of just warez sites, but there is none whatsoever with such great forum, be it pain in the back side to monitor/manage as squabbles is the "part of a parcel". (guilty of refusing to be involved, with good excuses why)personally, but there are plenty of interested people to do so certainly nSane has never been a competition to MDL, but having it way smaller attracted really talented people (also galore of leeches).
Do you share everything written here, on the nSane Discord page? Do we have spy, who works in real time?
Nah mate, reminiscing, piddling about (whenever get time), kinda making effort for the people to find a solution
few members are having discussion there, but by no means it's the forum, as what it was, its just chat messenger site- app client, as info is very scarce and load and load of users are searching for info... Can I also update, that the last main admin, in accordance to "rumours" is having major changes in his life, hence something might happen in the future, but also, might (most likely) NOT Still, couple of cached pages to droll over http://www.***********.com/forum/20-site-forum-feedback/ http://www.***********.com/topic/3799-what-happened/?tab=comments#comment-21133 OMG!!!!! original cast
Hello, Like ***********, where some people helped to activate Microsoft prod., is there any other forum?
I think what I said at the time is that some of their staff seem to visit MDL, just like many of their members visit here too. If ND were to upgrade to PHP 7 they'd have less issues with Wordpress and Invision. Only the bridge between the two might need to be fixed, but that shouldn't be too difficult. A few people have asked me if I could fix this for ND, but none of them are admins with full server permissions.
php v7 would indeed help them improve a few of their performance issues. I recall that they're still using an out of date version from the older v5.4 builds if I recall. I also recall their version having a known security flaw too and if that has not been exploited they have been lucky so far. -- WoltLab offers a free CMS (content management system) and they could finally move away from using WordPress and the bridge connecting to IPS, which I have no doubt only adds to their issues.
This is your exact quote: The sentence, "woltlab is outdated and with restrictions xenforo. Really very bad to use" reads they are both very bad to use.
Yep. That would involve redirects, lost content on the main site, restyling everything and finding or buying equivalent plugins. That's a lot of work when they could keep what works and simply rewrite the bridge.
Redirects are easy, no lost content since you could import everything, style is subjective, and plugins as needed, if at all (could be free or paid). A bridge is never a long-term solution since it would always need to be maintained and you're still taking a performance hit. The general goal should be to set them up so that they could be easily independent, with few dependencies (that includes not needing someone else's help all the time).
^ A follow-up. Even if after trying WoltLab, they would prefer IPS, given the issues previously outlined (a few post back), they could convert to WoltLab and then convert back to a clean, fresh install of IPS (losing nothing). -- It really would be a win, win for them either way.
Are you forgetting that ND is more than just a forum? They run two websites, so you'd be trashing the main website in favour of just the forums. That's what I mean about redirects and years worth of lost content. My approach would be to keep both websites functioning exactly as they have been for years, but without the bugs. They've always had a custom style. You also know how I don't like the WoltLabs themes or plugins, so I won't open that can of worms. There's shouldn't be a performance hit since I believe their bridge passes specific post info to Wordpress. Once it's a Wordpress article it becomes static content. If a new bridge is coded then it should work until a future version of PHP requires more changes. I believe that's the reason they've not yet updated PHP.
(Implementing or not) "ePirate., slyk, twocows" faith? (Loss of database) Ah well, apart from good intensions of yours, we'll just say farewell to nSane (BTW such has been "predicted" already) Cheers!
