Hey, guys. I have two files in my User folder which I don’t understand.

    NTUSER.DAT
    NTUSER.DAT.rdbkp

They have no icons and are blank. I didn’t see them when I first installed. My question is purely aesthetic, since they are blank icons and ugly… can they be modified or removed safely?

I'm surprised that something so ugly and important would just be slapped into the middle of the User folder. Are they always just sitting there like that with ugly blank document icons?

Every non-executable file gets the blank 'default' icon unless its extension is associated with a program and/or a specific icon is specified for that type of file.

(Short version, but should be enough to get the gist of it.)

Thanks. I appreciate the responses to such a basic question. I'm new to Windows 7 and only used XP casually before, so I'm not very familiar with all the details. I appreciate the patience to explain. :)
