    Can a "GATEWASYSTEM" 2.0.BIN be hex edited into a "GATEWASYSTEM" 2.1.BIN and will it work ?

    No, will not work. Gateway = Acer

    Thanks for yor reply "MICHEL" I used "Pubkeycompare" with a v2.0 bin that I hex edited to v2.1 and a "GATEWASYSTEM" v3.0 xrm-ms and it shows them as matching. The bios that I've modded shows as now containing a full SLIC 2.1 table but I've yet to flash it to the laptop.

    Hi "FREESTYLER', shows as:
    warning on the SLIC 8 bit checksum (03, should be 00!) and SLIC digital signature invalid. Certificate digital signature valid and XrML Digital License and BIOS SLIC match!

    digital signature invalid, that says it all..isn't?
    the 8 bit checksum is not really important

    yes, acer, gateway, packard bell, emaschines are all using same slics/certs/keys (from acer)

    Hi "PAYMYRENT", not sure of the motherboard, it's an older Gateway 450SX4 with XP Pro on it. I'm just curious to see if I can mod the bios to Slic 2.1 while keeping it as the original Gateway bios branding, more as a learning process really (might look to see if I can hack the Gateway Slic bin with parts of the Acer bin). I've already modded the bios on my more up to date laptop to keep the same bios branding along with modding the Bios on my PC's.

    Oh well.. with all this slics poping around... I can't wait to see a SLIC 3.0 being implemented heheh
    Poor Micro$oft! Just let your shiz fly.. and it might be as sucessful as XP ;)
