Thanks offon7544, I've always been able to find the file, What I'm trying to extract the oembios.bin file, not the rar that is on my hardrive to make the files I need for the MSI Pro. I tried a few programs and they say not a valid archive. I know I'm missing something here, I've been at this for awhile.
I have these MSI files Oembios.cat oembios.sig oembios.dat oembios.bin need to make = -DPCDLL.DL_ -OEMBIOS.BI_ -OEMBIOS.DA_ -OEMBIOS.SI_ -OEMBIOS.CA_ -SETUPREG.HIV don't know how, should I rename files ? getting errors 'setup cannot continue' (making coasters)
@ 911medic, I wanted to try to explain on earlier on didn't have time had to work I was gonna point to eXPander over on MSFN i,e drag and drop if you know what i mean but you have explained. colinzim through lack of knowledge thought it was just a case of renaming the files and who else here would have done the same I would have if i didn't know, we also know the oem bios files we download are uncompressed. I still cant understand that but it is not my bios repository. I maybey wrong here but i have never tried making an OEM CD/DVD with files uncompressed i am almost certain it does still work.
Thanks guys ! All is fine, except after install, asks to activate Copied to I386 - XP Pro SP3 OEM MSI Files from above link + royalty key -OEMBIOS.BI_ -OEMBIOS.DA_ -OEMBIOS.SI_ -OEMBIOS.CA_ -Winnt.sif -OOBEINFO.IN_
CAB these, and only these. Add only these plus the winnt.sif to the install ISO. You did change the setupp.ini?? It needs to be this: [Pid] ExtraData=786F687170637175716954806365EF Pid=76487OEM Where did you get the key?
My Bad It turns out after taking medic911's advice I ran OEMBIOS.EXE and found that the notebook has a Fujitsu SLP string. So I skipped the obvious and put you people (sorry) and myself thru alot of (maybe) un-necessary time. Thank you all for the help, I learned ALOT in these hours. I used the method of XP OEM SLP1.0 "Repair Installation" CD and converted the VLK I had replaced back in the notebook to Fujitsu OEM. Thank You for teaching me how to compress cab files, I know I will I definitely need to do that in the future ! Last method of dropping oembios.ca_ oembios.si_ oembios.da_ oembios.bi_ winnt.sif onto the XP OEM disc probably would have worked had there been slp string !!!! Installed fine just no activation
A Curious Question I had an LG Notebook to install XP on. I modified a Dell XP Pro SP3 OEM cd image by adding the LG oembios files -OEMBIOS.BI_ -OEMBIOS.DA_ -OEMBIOS.SI_ -OEMBIOS.CA_ and WINNT.SIF During install it I had to enter the Dell key NOT the LG OEM key (invalid key error). XP is installed and activated with the Dell OEM key ?? I'm happy but confused
You don't happen to be using OOBEINFO.INI with ProductKey in it if so remove it. if you have key in winnt.sif.
you don't have to go to the trouble of reinstalling windows or making an OEM CD if you used an OEM CD to install with in the first place. It doesn't matter if it is generic, dell, hp or whoever. Just make a directory in the folder where you have oembios.exe (for instance a dell computer you would make a dell folder), and drop the OEM Bios files in there. Then run the oembios.exe program and it will replace the files in the windows directory for you. Next time you reboot if the files match the SLP string in the BIOS are you good to go. I used to do this with images at my last job since I had HP, Dell, and a few Lenovo machines, I just made a batch file to run OEMBIOS while installing apps, and it worked like a charm.
Hello, I did NOT use OOBEINFO.INI and is not on disc, just dropped the four oemfiles + winnt in disc image. Not a big problem, just wondering why the error. Thanks, colinzim
