1. Okay I am downloading the WAIK and just wonder should I copy just 64bit or both? I also found that the 1.3.16A4 had the ImageX file in the "Required files - Do n..." folder, can I just copy from there? 2. Do you refer the "required setting file" as in the "Settings - Examples" folder? If so I did copy very file in there over into the "Settings" folder before I run the Update_Settings script. I will try it again after I get the ImageX file. 3. So is it still work without the update script? Or should I use the 1.3.16A4 version which have the "Required files - Do n..." folder? Thanks and I really appreciate the quick respond!
1) You need both file. But you can use the one from the Alpha version. And keep them Once complete, I will remove them from the package 2) Yes, you need to put the settings (from example folder, depending of your actual configuration) into the settings folder. 3) Well, I not sure about your question. The update script if to update, say, from 1.3.12 to 1.3.15 on a computer which already had a prior version of my tolls and on which a recovery image was already made. On a new installation, DO NOT use the update script BTW, by the update script, I am not talking about the "update settings" file, but the cmd file in the same forlder as the install.cmd file
Okay thanks now I got my USB drive setup! So about windows installation, it say "Used only Retail or MSDN media". Is that mean I just boot the target computer with the USB drive I setup? Or I need another USB drive with Windows installation?
I have done every steps and seems like it works. However, when I try to run the windows for the first time (As end user) it show me an error "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware". Is is the drive and software I installed that cause the problem or something else?
Always make your firt practice using Virtual Machine first. Then, when on real hardware, stick with a base Windows installation without anything. If it works, continue with the drivers. Tryp too much stuff at the same time (drivers, apps, etc.) can sometime create problem with Sysprep. Also, be sure that you are using the settings (from example folder) that matches the AutoUnattend.xml file you used to create the partitions!
Thanks for the reply. I think I done the steps right, it probably because of the manufacturer software as my laptop is VAIO and some people said that happen as VAIO software only applicable on their factory hardware. I think I will just try it again and that's just my old laptop so I'll just play with it . By the way, is there a way to change the size of recovery partition and change the key for entering recovery environment?
In the SettingsRE.Txt file, change the LANG parameter to the one you use. It may help. It is th eonly place where I put a language settings.
I have the same problem with a dual-language (English - French) disk I have made. I am looking to it right now.
I would like to upgrade recovery tools Alpha 4 to Alpha 5, can you give me the instructions to update under win 8.1? Thank you
The update cmd file doesnt work for win 8.1...recommended to download the alpha 5 and setup it from scratch.
