Thanks, There will be in the final version the update cmd file? When will the final version 1.3.16 to win 8.1? it' s a great tools
I don't have plan for now to put back the update.cmd script file. I got some bad reports about broken recovery Tools when used to upgrade. Setup from scratch will be the best way. As for making the 1.3.16 a "final" product, I will wait to see if anyone report any problem for it. Currently, I can say that everyhing should works, but thare may be some problem with the DVD creation stuff. Only time and test will say for that.
AnarethoS - why do you Generalize the OOBE process but then tell it not to remove Device Installs in the sysprep.xml? What purpose does it serve and would it matter if I removed /generalize from the script? I don't typically generalize my images because there are quite a few modification I make prior to OOBE and I want all the modification to stay.
Thank you. That's really helpful I'll have to see what using generalize does to my configurations. I already deploy from WDS and the Captured Recovery will be specific to each system so no issues with AD or WSUS. Appreciate the quick response.
First test deployment - recovery appeared to save correctly. System completed and shut down. I started up the computer again to test it and it's got an error with iaStor missing or corrupt. I'm assuming Generalize removed this driver from the image? Or is there somewhere else I should be looking? Relevant details of the system: X79 Chipset Windows 7 Home Prem x64 system Just to confirm - I tested the same system again without the Generalize command in the script and everything appears to be working. I'll let you know if anything funny happens because of it
Its a driver issue that is causing the issue...possibly mass storage driver if you install it...if so look for a fixed driver. Would help to know what drivers you did install.
It everything works without the generalize option for you, you may just jemove the command from the script and you will be fixed. That is the main reason I use CMD in the backgroud... Easy to edit without any re-compile needed
Yeah I know - it's the Intel X79 SATA Chipset driver. There is no fixed one, it's the latest and it's never caused issues with my images before without the recovery script. I'm fairly certain it's related to the Generalize command as I'm unable to replicate it when that command is removed. Cool ta! Everything appears to be working. Windows 8 has no issues with the Generalize command in place. All of my custom settings go through I think, still checking Thanks for the help!
Ok One more issue - Z87 Chipset - I'm getting no USB's working in Recovery mode in Windows 7 only! Windows 8 works fine. Keyboard and Mouse set is the Logitech K260 - which is fairly generic I've tried in both USB2.0 and USB3.0 ports with the same issue Any ideas? Edit: Another one - X79 again - Windows 8.1 - i'm not getting the recovery screen up when i choose to Repair my computer?
@btdag With the Z87 chipset, there is no native USB3 support in win7. You need to install Intel usb3 (haswell) drivers. USB2 ports should be no issue. This isn't an issue with the recovery software. You can add drivers to your wim files using dism. For my installs I already have drivers for raid/usb/lan integrated into my boot.wim, winre.wim & install.wim. Most my images are saved on a server over lan so I need to add some lan drivers to my image. With regards to X79 chipset, you should be using enterprise (IRSTe) drivers. Also note that the "latest" is not always the best or most stable.
Ok so injecting the USB3 drivers worked!! Winning! - It made the USB2 ports work as well which suggests to me that they're actually running on the USB3 bus but at USB2 speeds instead. One last question -Windows 7 - when i use the "Reinstall Windows" button in the recovery it works fine but goes back to OOBE but it hasn't got my custom OOBE Sysprep file integrated! Where can I find the Sysprep associated with this Reinstall button?
Are you using the "Reinstall Windows" from the main window or the "full restore" from the Advanced Menu?
Hi AnarethoS I want to ask you something i'm using your tool from almost year now that time the latest version of this software was 1.3.14 stable so i want to know is their anyway to i can upgrade this software version to 1.3.16 version without touching my current setting or installation....????!!! Bcoz i did'nt see any type of update tab in 1.3.14 version kindly guide me ... Thanks for making this outstanding tool i really appreciate your work from bottom of my heart
I removed the script that allowed upgrade through version because it was unstable. You can always try to take the update script from 1.3.15 and copy it to 1.3.16 to upgrade, but it may broke the recovery option. Use at your own risk!
can i make the recovery partition smaller? for some reason, it takes 11GB out of 64GB (actually about 57GB) on my tablet. i've only installed the touch screen and wireless drivers on top of the default windows 8 installation. i'm sure the restore image is much much smaller than 11GB. i simply used the default partition settings.
