I'm glad to see some progress here. I'll be available to test the changes out early on in the new year. Things are a little hectic here around xmas :)

I'm going to assume the issue I was running into with Windows 8.1 was similar or related to the changes you're talking about. Will report back when I know more.

I will wait for your test result then :)

BTW, for those interested, I will include a script with sample certificate to "sing" the Windows apps. To you will have a warning with the "blue bar" ather than the "yellow" bar.

The script will install my own root certificate and will sign the required exe with a sign certificate. You will be able to replace thèses certificate by your own.

This will be an optional step. If you don't don it, everything will still works like now.

    Hi everyone!

    - I just changed my version numbering. 1.3.16 is now 3.0.0. So it jump from 1.3.15 to 3.0.0. Why? Because my old "Legacy" version was 2.1.1 and I want to stop confusion between the current "basic" and the old "legacy" version.

    - Due to the fact that I now have a full media Creator, both for USB and DVD, I can't really tell my software is "basic" anymore. So I have change the file name to remove the "basic" stuff. I was still using this name because this version (1.3.X) was built on my previous "basic" software for Windows 7 which didn't included media recovery

    - The 3.0.0 version has been cleaned a little bit to remove left over stuff from the "WIM on first partition" for Windows 8/8.1

    - The 3.0.0 version doest not include anymore the OsCdImg.exe file. Like for the boot files, ImageX, OscdImg will need to be provided since M$ EULA prevent me from distributing it

    - During the Alpha stade, I still include all files in the package, but I will remove them later

    - I have put a small script to sign the EXE files with my own certificate. The script will also install the root certificate on the computer. I will not include this in final version but you can take a look to it if you want to have similar stuff on your side

    - I have updated the instruction manual to reflect version change, new files requirement, new partition layout, etc.

Yes, default admin acct only. Also used the autounattend.xml. I noticed this when I redid his system but with normal install (no recovery partition software) it will show all metro apps by default on start screen. Even if you do a search they are no where to be found. Think it is in the apps cleanup stage plus the metro apps that show on start screen in audit mode under admin dont show under any other user name. I am going to go back to win 7 personally. I dont like win 8 or 8.1. I tried it today but am not fond of it. It did this on my lappy also with not showing metro apps on start screen once done capturing and rebooting into regular start screen. I am going to watch that thread and see if a update comes out that I can integrate into my iso. Then maybe I will try win 8.1 again.

The default admin account doesn't have Metro Apps enabled by default. It's also not really recommended using Metro apps in Audit mode.

Once you create a normal "online" (i.e. Live Account Based) user during the OOBE stage that's when the Metro Apps become active.

Found out the issue of not showing tiles on start screen....was an issue when trying to capture image when I was using wrong files. On previous page I redid the project and it is working not only on mine but my friends as well. Guess I was drinking a lil too much while I ran the old project files. lol All is working like it should. Sorry

So when i installed with a live account it did only start with 3 tiles. You said it worked for you with a live account or did you use a local account?

I did mine local for my net wasnt hooked up yet (wireless key). Have all tiles on start screen and so does my friend. I even tested again in vmware to make sure and it showed correctly with all tiles on start screen when booted into main desktop.

That's unusual. I reinstalled my system (without recovery) the other day and I always use a live account to sign in and mine started with all the tiles on the Metro screen. I've OOBE'd quite a few systems now and they have all done the same (again without recovery though).

For an offline account the tiles will be there but they won't function until you link the account to a Live account.

Ok so this is what i have come up with.

If you create a local account you get the default apps in the metro screen. if you use a live account it stores what your apps are online so if you use an existing live account you get the basic desktop and ie for tiles.

what i did is installed with my live account added 3 things to the metro then deleted everything re installed with the same live account and it came up with the exact same 3 things i had added to the old one. So this is all linked to your account, I installed with and without the installer and Autounattend with the exact same results so everything is working as it should!
