What do you mean the system fails? Remember win10 doesnt have a recovery so to speak. It will download new OS via internet and use that to reset/reinstall. Another reason I went back to win8.1. lol
What i mean is, the system fails on refresh and reset. once i enter the recovery environment and start the process.
No. I just copied over the recovery folder. Installed drivers and updates, then ran the sysprep script.
Without more detailed info, it is hard to say. I have never had an issue like yours since I have been using this project.
I had this working fine over a year ago on windows 8.1 . Im using the same tablet fully formatted. ive created the USB drive with windows 10 CE. copied the relevant files and started the install. I have added the drivers and ran windows update in audit mode. Then i have run the syspreb script. I am using the default UEFI partition txt file. All is good and boots in to windows and the system sets up. Now i use the recovery menu to reset the tablet and it fails after 12%, saying no changes where made and it resets back to my normal windows.
I too had it working at one point but it has been a while. Think I will just do a regular install and call it quits. lol I am tired of working on this lappy.
@The_Guardian @legacy Did you used the newer ScanState files (available on the firt page of this thread) or the old one from the "Anniversary Edition" ? Did you used the "Reset My PC" or the "Fresh Start" option ?
Yes I did. I have sorted it now. I turned off secureboot in the tablet bios and the tablet is resetting and refreshing fine now. Thank you.
hi there, thank for this software. glad i found this with google search. will it restore installed driver? my laptop is Asus and i just accidently deleted my recovery partition. it just restore fresh installed windows or it will restore with driver also?
Well, if you create a recovery image with my software, everything will be restored, including drivers and application if you use the recovery option after. But you will need to create the image first.
I'll definitely get a look at this. It looks interesting and like something I could use in my own setups. Thanks for the links!
I want to let you knwo that I switched my DNS to CloudFlare yesterday. This can explain some difficulties to reach my web site for a few hour.
@AnarethoS : thank you, i was able to use the script successfully, i managed to make it work few days ago, i followed all the instructions that are described in the documentation and it worked well, i first installed win7 version in audit mode (3 partitions were successfully installed with the capacity that was integrated in the script ), then i installed all necessary application that i needed then run the script. All went well, capture image was done and i was able next to use the recovery option from winre menu to reinstall the windows version without loosing applcations and files. Indeed it works as OEM recovey partition as the one that is available when you buy pc with pre installed windows on it. So i can say that It worked like a charm. Thank you again for that great script, you did really great job my friend, keep it up.
@AnarethoS : hi again, tell me, i would like to understand something in the documentation about win8/win8.1, you say that you need to copy all these 4 files (BOOT, EFI, BOOTMGR, and BOOTMGR.EFI) to \Windows 8\Windows 8 Recovery Tools\Boot but the thing is that when you go to required files folder for win8, you notice that these files are present in 2 folders called Boot - AMD64 and Boot - X86 but you didn't specify from which of these both folders you have to take these files then paste them in the right location namely \Windows 8\Windows 8 Recovery Tools\Boot The problem is that you can't copy all these files from both folders (Boot - AMD64 and Boot - X86) to \Windows 8\Windows 8 Recovery Tools\Boot because the first files that are going to be copied then pasted from one of both folders (Boot - AMD64) to \Windows 8\Windows 8 Recovery Tools\Boot will be overwritten by the next files that you will copy and past from the second folder (Boot - X86) to \Windows 8\Windows 8 Recovery Tools\Boot so since you didn't specify this, so i suppose that you will have to choose from which folder you have to take these files according to your needs so : if you choose to install win8.1 32 bit, in that case you need to copy the files that are present in the folder called Boot - X86 then paste them to \Windows 8\Windows 8 Recovery Tools\Boot and if you choose to install win8.1 64 bit, in that case you need to copy the files that are present in the folder called Boot - AMD64 then paste them to \Windows 8\Windows 8 Recovery Tools\Boot am i right about this or am i missing something ?
