OOBE is when you configure your user im sure of My PDF is a good thing to start read... 1. Create partitions,install windows 7 2. Audit mode; Apps, drivers, updates etc 3. Install recovery tool 4. Launch it, click install 5. Sysprep/Capture 6. Reboot / shutdown 7. Create user 8. Create recovery dvd 9. Done.. Edit: I wont be here as much as i normally am hehe. Im working with a friend.. Cheers, tcntad, I had read the manual, and it describes what OOBE mode is, but it doesn't mention how to get from AUDIT into OOBE mode. Turns out it's really easy! I've done a recovery drive, but missed some drivers and registering. Do I need to edit the partitions at all before restarting the whole process (to clean/format them) ? I tried to remove the partitions with disk management, to start from scratch, but they are active so no go.. -----------Edit------------ I just ran recovery tool, and it all seems to be fine. Side note: Has anyone else had an issue with system recovery ? I had an error in event viewer, error 0x8007007B for system restore that the drive name or syntax is incorrect. It was an easy fix, turning off system restore for the default drive and and then turning it on for the boot drive. I guess it has something to do with the drive partitioning (yes, not my strong point) but.. is it avoidable?
Hm Im not sure whats wrong. I never experiend issues with system recovery (unleess I had an antivirus installed)
The issues with Anti-Virus in Sys-prep has been resolved... You need to disable protection before the LAST STEP... and the rest will be fine.... Tested Several Times by me... (I had Installed ESET Smart Security 4 "Latest")

Hm its a little to simple altough it could work just fine maybe. Although i still would like to be able to pick my own language (englishg, swedish, chinese) both for setup and windows but i cant even pick language for windows...
Sorry about the delay getting back to you, I've been busy: After using recovery tools, I think system restore ends up trying to make backups of the wrong partition so it gives random errors when it tries to create a new point. It's easy enough to fix once you realise it isn't working. You head to: Control Panel --> System --> System Protection and configure the drives so that the restore points are created for C: Windows, and not the other partitions. But it'd be nice if this was changed before making an image, either with the tool or by just adding another step in the guide
For the problem with the SystemRecovery, I found that this problem is there if the "Generalize" option was not choosen. A easy fix is to go to : Control Panel System System Protection Click on "Configure" Click on "Delete" (or the similar option to delete all restore points". It should be back to normal after that.
