Just a Thought How easy or hard would it be to add XP and Vista Support. if it is possible, Could you do it? Thanks
Vista and 7 is very similar so you can try vista but Anarethos wont support XP due to its age.. Around 10 years old and filestructure is completely different.
But correct me if im wrong, the recovery tools Creates and image of the OS rather than boot to it. so if i wanted to use the tools for XP what would stop me, maybe i can find away around it
The tool boot into recovery environment and captures windows, and then restart your computer and boot normally. You can try find something. You can sysprep it manually like normally but dont know about creating recoverypartition. Same here.. not available or something. But if you search this thread after my username you'll find an attachment to a mirror. Anarethos: Would it be possible for the tool to have you enter how many partitions you want and create them? Or perhaps use the autounattend.xml file?
As another has confirmed... LINK no longer works cannot find your other... Alternate D/L location? Thanks
plugins how about making a plugin pack for system diagnotics ie Anti-virus, Driver Clone (For reinstalling a system currently with out recovery tool), Disc checker (for bad sectors etc), Ram Scanner, and a form of USB drive force mount to load temp programs like BART PE. i think this could be a good idea
Reinstall without have to use the recoverytool? Still you want the recoverytool to have driver clone so you can reinstall without the rec. tool? hm not working. Memtest, killdisk, option to create your partitions, anti virus (how about virus definitions), hdd regenerator and other free great tools probably can be built in but it will take some time. You have my mirror for downloading the tool, and now its on mediafire as well. @ Anarethos: Can you add mirrors to the first page?
About adding custom tools into my software This could be don only for a 32 bits version of Windows. Sadly, M$ decided not not uspport execution of 32 bits softwares from a 64 bits Windows Recovery Environment, and since most applications are 32 bits and most people use 64 bits Windows, it won't works. The only solution would be to use the 32 bits Recovery Environment even when the OS is 64 bits, but this will add too much size to my package (add 300 mb for the WIM file) and i won't do it. About making my tools works with XP and Vista My tools use the Windows 7 Recovery Environment, which is why it is soo small. Windows Vista does'nt have the Recovery Environment already installed on the hard drive and would require the download of the WAIK for Windows Vista. Too much trouble and I won't do it. I already done it for my personal use (based on the version 1.X of my tools) for Vista and it works fine. Due to the size and the lack au automatic installation (you have to run a script to partition HDD, a script to install, another script to capture, anoter sript to set boot image, and so on...) I will not make it public. For Windows XP, the only solution would be to use BART-PE. This add problems with SATA drive, etc. Again, too much trouble. Already did it base on version 1.X of my tools. But I stopped maintaining it long time ago. Due to it size and complexity (need XP ISo, creation of the BartPE image, manual installation of everything, etc.) I will not make it public either.
A question: It doesnt really have anything to do with the tool but its about syspreping and OEM stuff so I guess Ill have to ask searchengine as well I syspreped a vm machine not long ago, i had searchengines script install OEM logos etc, enter audit mode, did what I wanted, then syspre.exe generalize & quit. Then i rebooted and installed w7 on another partition so i could capture the first one, said & done without any problem except the OEM logo in "My computer" Properties is missing, how come? User accout picture. supportinfo and wallpaper installs fint but not the oem logo in properties?
Maybe the registry entries got deleted? Try to install the logo/registry entry using the SetupComplete.Cmd script... it sould works?
