Hum... anyone has a good premium account at RapidShare to host my WAIK package on it? I would prefer to not have it on my server... just on RapidShare... so I won't be hold responsable for it
I know this is a dumb question, but honestly I never gave it enough thought in the past. I have a pc here that's got an intel processor, and a 64 bit windows vista install. I have a windows 7 64 bit install disk. when using OEM Recovery Partition Tools Creator, should I select amd64, or intelx86?
Okay, so I did that. and during the setup I get "a fatal error occurred while trying to sysprep the machine" it then rebooted, and loaded into the recovery tool, and started capturing the image, which succeeded, but afterward, when it was rebooting to continue to the windows setup/oobe, it goes to "Setup is starting services" then it pops up "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation." If I click ok, it restarts, and does exactly the same thing(loop) Any ideas, before I start all over?
havent tried x86, but I did install ESET Smart Security. Is that a bad idea? Also used windows loader.
AV's are "pretty known" to mess it up, especially with an active protection like Eset has and almost every other.
Well make sure the loader is installed to C:\ as its a small file on the bootpartition which normally is the hidden systempartition then it should be. If Im not sure, only the windows partition is captured but not the systempartition.
No problem with the loader. Just keep in mind that restoring the system from the recovery partition or DVD/USB will format the boot partition, removing the bootloader. You may get in "not genuine" state at this time, but simple reinstall the loader and you will be fine. For the crash during Sysprep, lot of AV create problem. I will recommend you to not install the antivirus in the image. anyway, AV change so mucht taht if you have to restore in 5 month, you may have to uninstall the current one and install a new one
hm. just failed to sysprep even with a clean install, nothing else. Must have something to do with either my copy of windows 7, or the fact that I integrated drivers into my install disk. bah. What I was hoping was to get this fully working, so I can create an install disk that has all the latest windows updates, integrated drivers from driverpacks.net, and fully sets up both the partitions needed for a recovery setup, install windows loader, and pre-install the oem recovery tool creator everything all in one go.
You may try to create the image without the Generalize option. On my Acer Netbook I must do that otherwise I get BSOD after the recovery. Has something to do with my ATI drivers.
Tricky part to update is how I must first to install 2.1.1 to see instructions (as it is packed in exe file), the downgrade to 2.0.9 and just than to update again. ... P.S. I dont understand why manuals and instructions are not available (also) like separate ZIP package to dawnload?
