Probably, folderstructure and files are the same. You can always try in a virtual machine before. But the tool is made for W7 so there are not garantuees.
^ Thanks for the info now u say the .SWM can be used in gimagex or imagex to export to a WIM so that means i can take a FACTORY.WIM and make it a .SWM that way aswell ? I'm doing a full redo of a computer right now testing the 2.1.1 version that has been updated well after looking threw some of the .CMD files it seems i could edit it to do .WIM instead of compressing it to SWM
This tolwon't work at all with Windows Vista..... except if you use the WINRE file from Windows 7 into Vista during the cration process. Then, it COULD works, but I didn't tried it. You will also get error message with REAGENTC and the F7 option to boot won't works. for using a WIM file only, you will have to modify lots of CMD (the one that create the capture, the one that make te recovery, all CMD for DVD/DVDDL/USB recovery media). Also, the GUI that start in the recovery mode search for the SWM file, so you will have to edit the AU3 script (Recovery.au3) and modify the correcponding line and recompile the file also.
@AnarethoS Can u pls PM me the whole process of creating recovery partition in XP?? Cause I badly need that for an old system
My XP Recovery solution? Ouch! It takes around 300mb to UL for me as it is based on BartPe. Also, it may not works well on computer with SATA drive. I will have to search for it first. And it not as good as the one for Windows 7. - Dual boot entry (not F7 stuff) - English and French Only I will see what I can do...
"2.1.1 - Removed Microsoft WAIK from the package to allow legal redistribution of it" How does this effect the installation can you give some more details...... thanks.
ok so after installing this on 2 computers i can report some stuff testing 2.1.1 1.) the % bar on the backup screen never shows anything always shows 0% but is working This happend on 2 computers but running x64 install after it booted in to recovery mode and started the backup it only would show no bar moving and it will end a bit later fully done but no % bar at all
This means the base package does not include any M$ files anymore. You have to either download WAIK (2gb) from Microsoft or DL missing file from the second archive in the first post. I made this to allow the redistribution of the base package freelly
Which language? I did 2 computer (1 32bits and 1 64bits) in the last days and it worked. Both in english.
Ok, good news. I now added a BitTorrent DL for the Recovery tools which included the WAIK files. The WAIK files are not available on my web site. Also, I put a BitTorrent file to DL my really old recovery tools for Vista and XP. Although the program is 100% in english, the installer (in 3 step) is English 66%/33% French. No support provided No updates No translation Don't ask anything about it Keep in seed also, since it is 1.5gb and my provieder caps me at 30gb per month. So once I will have uploaded 2 times, I will stop seeding on my side. Thanks.
AnarethoS - I did english I downloaded 2.1.1 I downloaded the M$ iso installed the M$ iso installed 2.1.1 says files are good to go move INSTALLER folder to pen drive audit mode run 64bit installer does everything reboots to recovery mode and starts doing everything and then no % bar moving its just 0, 20 to 30 mins later its all done and shows the recovery tool boxes i select reboot pc and back to windows - on the other hand im downloading the VISTA XP torrent i posted 1 seed going to take a bit once i get it i will RAR it and post on a better site for download
