Well, an OEM SLP key will work fine just for upgrade even without a SLIC, but won't activate unless you already have a SLIC and cert. The OEMs are listed pureley for information. No offence meant btw.
Hi Hazar, So I understand correctly, since this is an MSI board with slicv2.1 and home premium activated. If I change the key to ultimate since the manufacture is different I have to activate with another means? I.E. Loader or program? If I then make a request for a MSI mod for my motherboard I should be able to flash the bios for activation? No offence taken, just trying to learn. Thanks Edit: P.S. Everest gives me board not recognized? This is a newer system but they have already a newer MSI board than this one. I used a real old 2004 dos command file to see the board name. It would have been easier to open the box up
No you do not need to request another bios mod just install with any untimate key and add your certificate.
Yep, keys are edition linked, not manufacturer linked. Just put any Ultimate OEM:SLP key into the upgrade box and it'll upgrade to activated Ultimate!
A friend has a HP with preinstalled Windows Vista SP2 Basic version and like to upgrade to Wondows 7 Ultimate. I tried to but it was not possible other then a clean install because the installed language is not the same as the 1 on the Windows7 DVD. So, is there a way to go around this so he can keep all he has on computer?
i am getting my new hp dv4 in a few days. it comes preinstalled with home basic. i would like to make it home premium or ultimate. is it enough i use a home premium or ultimate key listed in the post by suicide solution in his thread "Windows 7 OEM SLP Key Collection" for anytime upgrade.
Sorry my bad, I have updated my post with the correct HP Premium OEM Key. Yes Windows Anytime Upgrade works offline
i tried the upgrade in my friends new hp-dv6 as my laptop would take 2 more days to arrive. His laptop has home premium so i tried an ultimate upgrade.I entered the HP ultimate key. But it was shown that the key is invalid and asked me to try another one. What could be the problem?
explain the process you did in doing the upgrade, no details then no one can help Also make sure your Antivirus Software is temporarily disabled
