    Hi

    I read the readme/troubleshooting part and enabled what you said to but I don't know where to locate the log file.Both AVG and Windows firewall are turned off.

    Thanks

    Post your Settings.ini. Log file is for AutoKMS which doesn't apply here.

    Restart toolkit and try again.

    If it fails disable PID Change in settings and see if it gets that error.

    @poe_sniper

    I can replicate your error by killing KMSEmulator, and when the PID Change is attempted, it fails like that since it isn't running. Your settings say you enabled KMSEmulator (which the PID thing wouldn't be attempted if KMSEmulator wasn't going to be used).

    My guess is you had something kill KMSEmulator after it started (a failure to start would have thrown an error immediately before EZ-Activator did anything else, so look into AV).

    Hi

    Okay. Have gone and put in the KMSEmulator.exe and AutoKMS.exe into my AV as safe items everywhere I could.

    Thanks

    Otk 2.1.5 beta1

    Office 2010 x64 IT PP (VL client) in Windows 7 Ultimate x64 IT

    Using OTK 2.1.4 from the 3 april always ok - after each pc boot "Successfully activated after 1 attempts."

    Uninstalled the AutoKMS from the OTK 2.1.4 Activation Tab - reboot the PC

    Installed the AutoKMS in the OTK 2.1.5 BETA1 Activation Tab.

    After the E-Z activator action the console shows:

    ====================================================
    Getting Office License Configuration Information.
    ---------------------------------------
    Backing Up License Info In Case Of Failure.
    ---------------------------------------

    The autoKMS log is:

    ------------------------------------
    AutoKMS Ran At 11/04/2011 11:18:03.

    But now the autoKMS is installed as service? Where is in the HLM\System\CurrentControSet\services?

    It's mainly if you want to activate other PC's and use your PC as a KMS server, otherwise you don't need this and it gives you no benefit.

    The service is only installed if you do it manually, so unless you pressed Install for AutoKMS Service you won't have it. If you don't have a good reason to run it as a service, don't bother.

    Ok, only for my know-how, now in the Activation Tab used the AutoKMS service option.

    Used the E-Z activator and the console shows:

    ==============================================================================
    Getting Office License Configuration Information.

    Backing Up License Info In Case Of Failure.

    Attempting To Activate Professional Plus.
    Successfully activated after 2 attempts.
    ---------------------------------------
    Installing AutoKMS.
    Created C:\Windows\AutoKMS\AutoKMS.exe
    Created C:\Windows\AutoKMS\AutoKMS.ini
    Created AutoKMS Scheduled Tasks
    AutoKMS was succesfully installed.
    ---------------------------------------
    Office 2010 was succesfully activated.
    =============================================================================

    and the AutoKMS log is:

    ------------------------------------
    AutoKMS Ran At 11/04/2011 15:51:15.
    Started KMSEmulator.exe
    Changed KMS PID To: 55041-00168-305-190595-03-1033-3790.0000-2692009

    Stopped KMSEmulator.

    I don't know if AutoKMS is working as aservice. Is possible to check in the HKLM\CurrentControlSet\Services of the registry?

    You have to enable it after EZ-Activator, and you should see the service in Services. Also, if it is running the log won't show changing PID, and starting/stopping KMSEmulator, or adding/removing KMS hosts since the service handles this.

    You can tell its working as a service if you have AutoKMS.exe and KMSEmulator.exe running and you can see the AutoKMS Service is Auto and started.

    Also, if you installed it from BETA 1, may want to replace the AutoKMS.exe with later ones I posted as a separate link.

    CODY, same problem with the latest build. Same error at logon screen, and the same two errors on the System Event Log.

    I don't understand windows services very well, but this problem must be really hard to fix, because there are many many services that suffer from it. For example, at the office we have a network attached camera, made by Axis. It comes with a software called "Camera Station One", which installs a service that is set to run automatically at startup.

    Well, the Axis service has the exact same problem as your AutoKMS service. The workaround we used at work was to set the service to "Manual" status. And then program a task in the task schedule to run at startup.

    The task would be a simple .CMD file containing the lines:

    sleep.exe 240
    sc.exe start blahblahservicename

    That was enough to avoid the errors at startup. And there would be no errors logged in the Event Log at all.

    I've tried the same trick with your AutoKMS service, and it does work perfectly well!

    It seems that Windows tries to start a lot of services concurrently to speed up the booting process, and some of them may have dependencies on others, which are really difficult to maintain and coordinate in parallel.

    It can be a nightmare to get this right. I'm happy with the current workaround, but I'm willing to test more if you'd like to investigate a bit more!

    Regards.

    Hi CODYQX4. I would like to know, when using the license backup tab is the Reinstall Keys option used to restore activation after a reformat regardless of hardware? Also not sure if this is a typo or not, but in the license backup tab you use Reinstall keys, but when you explain about the license backup in the readme part you list it as Restore Keys Option.

    Yes, it's a typo. And no, you can't restore on different hardware.

    PS: Cody, I sent you a PM

    I would like to know the difference between restoring Saved Keys and the Reinstall keys option then, since they both can restore. Just saved keys is restricted to the hardware, so not sure about reinstall keys.

    All backups are hardware locked, but the restore keys lets your backup work after a reformat/reinstall OS on the same PC, which has always failed with normal backup.
