    As I recall you had the latest source and said you were working on that and a nicer readme display. I wanted to get those changes before working on other things (plus finals have kept me from working on the toolkit).

    It's a little difficult to sort through the of this lengthy thread. I am about to install a clean Office Pro Plus x64 on a Win7 Ult x64 OS that has never had office installed. I have two questions.

    1) It is a dual boot with XPSP3 that has a hacked OS and Office. Will the XP installation cause me any problems?

    I am reading, I believe, that VL is the way to go and I am uncertain of my version. I downloaded a while back and the included nfo doesn't indicate much. There is an update folder in the ISO with a readme stating that any patches placed in this folder will be included in the installation. But I doubt that really helps in identifying. I'm generally pretty careful when download this kind of software and you can bet that I downloaded a good version at the time, but I've simply forgotten - LOL. So my question is this:

    2a) If you were going to do a fresh installation of Office Pro Plus x64 today on a working Win7 Ultimate x64 OS which particular version of Office would you download and from where?

    -or-

    2b) Is a VL required? And is there a quick way to first test the version of Office Pro Plus and then convert the exe files to VL if necessary

    The situation is a bit time-sensitive as I told a friend i would help them edit their thesis and I need to get up and running in a few hours. I shouldn't have left it this late, but now I'm kind of jammed up. Any advice is most appreciated. I'll be reading backwards on this thread for information while awaiting the kindness of strangers for an answer to my post here. Thanks

    Sorted

    Referring to my post above. I installed what I had, which was a VL. I used default settings and EZ-Activator. Everything seemed to work just fine.

    Great to hear that- Anyway, if you have a Retail Office you can use the "Customize Setup" tab of the Toolkit to convert it to a Volume installer ;)

    Sorry for be noob, but this tool will only extend the trial period to 180 days or patch it at every restart (AutoKMS.exe) giving me Office forever activated? Thanks, really :)

    With AutoKMS it keeps it at 180 days so you can call that forever.

    I'm confused sorry, which option do I use to activate Office 2010 Professional Plus? The old activator I tried activated it for 180 days and rearmed on the 1st of each month. This is complicated to me sorry.

    Well, I'll try to do a quick resume. There are currently 2 ways of using Office permanently:

    * KMS Activation
    * Continuous rearm

    KMS Activation
    You need a Volume version of Office for this to work (The Toolkit can convert your Retail Office to Volume). Your Office will be activated for 180 days, after that it will need reactivation. You can choose to use the AutoKMS from the Toolkit and it will reactivate your system at every boot, or you can manually activate using the "Activate" function when you need it (you just have to remember to activate it).

    Continuous rearm
    This will leave your Office in a permanent trial mode. You can use AutoRearm (from the Toolkit) or timesurfer's IORRT. They would basically do the same, rearm you Office every 30 days. When you're out of rearms those programs will restore a backup and will give you back the rearms to keep the rearm thing (this is done automatically).

    There you have it, it's up to you which one you want to use. I always recommed to use a Volume version even if you don't use KMS activation, because it doesn't nag in trial mode (the retail does nag in trial)

    PS: To activate use the EZ-Activator, if you have any problems, post the result of the EZ-Activator here :)

    Right, I installed Professional Plus (Volume am I right?) and used EZ-Activator and I believe it is using AutoKMS and says it starts on every reboot. Will this slow down my boot in any way? So will this keep it permanent and not use up reactivations and such and let me receive updates?

    Well, I never recognized any delays from using AutoKMS in an old PC, as what it does is just some .Net code execution and runs the KMSEmulator, which also doesn't take much RAM or CPU.

    If you notice any lag I would be more than impressed, lol :D

    PS: you can check the status of your Office activation in the activation tab ;)

    So this keeps it working fine without me having to do anything till a reinstall from now on? If so thanks! The old activator ran fine, but now seems to do nothing. Also, am I supposed to let MSE allow the two files.. One I know is the keygen but another had a name I don't recognize.

    Since it runs at login it won't slow "boot", and it should not take very much resources to handle it. It usually takes about a couple seconds to activate and close out.
