virplay, I'll state it again. It has to be something specific with your hardware. Doesn't mean it is a defect just means something is obviously handled differently with your hardware configuration that the software isn't taking into account. However, most Mac's run these loaders albeit for the 40 sec bootup delay.
Well since it still uses the Grub loader I would think it will still exhibit the same issue (40 sec boot delay at black screen with blinking cursor).
Hazar thats just not correct dude, you should give credit to people you take codes from. You have used his code but slightly edited it (not much). UNTERMENSCH is a friend and i dont like people taking with no thanks. Alfa
I was just saying it was based on my original loader, and seeing as my original loader was grldr based it will have the same effect. Maybe it came out wrong.
alphawaves, if you read my post a couple in front of hazar's you'll see he is confirming what I said and never claimed anything about it being his code. He stated the grldr is the same and therefore the boot delay would still be present in response to the OP question. Fair is fair, and I think hazar's learned his lesson with regard to your point.
Folks, unless these new loaders are specifically written to address the Mac issue they are not going to work any differently.
New loader time! OK last week I decided to put together a new grldr-based loader using a newer version of Grub4Dos. The old one (v0.4.3 from March 2007) used by other loaders is what causes the delay. Actually, it's lots of short delays, during grub startup, during the chainloader command, the boot command. Pretty much everything sticks on the Mac partition for a few seconds and it adds up quickly. I'm not sure how easy it would be to fix the existing grldr code. Anyway, my new loader has been running well on my Macbook (and VBox virtual machine, and main PC) for the past 4-5 days so I think it's time to share. If a Mac user wants to help me test it, PM me. Please have Hazar's 7loader already installed and working first as it makes installation easier. If you don't have a basic idea how grldr works and is installed, I suggest waiting for other people to test it first.
