Windows 8.1 & 10: The product key may be embedded on the motherboard or may be on the Certificate of Authenticity sticker on the bottom of the device. Windows 7: For devices that came with Windows 7 pre-installed, the product key may be on the Certificate of Authenticity sticker on the bottom of the device. So i have a HP quad core PC and comes with Windows 7, So guesses are when doing a clean install with Windows 10 Home x64 just enter my "own" serial number from the side sticker.....Testmg as we speak, will edit/repost with result.
someone please tell me how do i upgrade from windows 10 insider preview build to this final rtm build. thanks
How could it be. The first is single-index where the latter has two. Additionally the ISO from the first is created on the fly on your system, with similiar process abbodis decrypter uses .
If I use MediaCreationToolx64 and download the windows 10 ISO, can I later extract the ISO into the USB and install windows 10 from the USB or do I have to make the USB bootable?
I don't know if this is the right place. I created an ISO using the ESD to ISO tool. The generated ISO is named "en_windows_10_pro_10240_x64_dvd" Would this one be good to install any edition of windows 10 (Home or pro)? Or would it work with pro only? Or do I need to "unlock" it to use it with either? I already checked the sources folder and there is not an ei.cfg file. This seems the same as it was with windows 8 and 8.1 (no ei.cfg) Do I need to add the ei.cfg file to the sources folder? Mods, please feel free to move it as needed. Thanks ps. ei.cfg content for the unlocked windows 8.1 [Channel] Retail [VL] 0
Yep, that key only triggers the new activation mechanism. Your machine will be identified by its HWID. That HWID is UNIQUE for each system. Nothing else needed.
can anyone confirm you can install these ISO's with a Windows 7 COA key without having first used the WGX update?
That will work, but it is no longer needed as there is now a SKIP button that will bypass the key entry and present an index list.
NO!!! Again you're confusing it all. Upgrade from OEM system first, assure Upgrade is activated. Then do as you like. Forget about any keys here. There are non needed.
damn that sucks. i have all my legit PC's running WIn 8.1 VL so I have to re-install the OS on every PC.. just using Windows Update is such a pain in the a$$ then I have to deal with WGX
? You can use an iso to upgrade, but your system has to pass the validate test and be online during upgrade process. You don't have to fiddle with the automatic downloader.
