The freezing and the incorrect amount of speccy on the RAM most likely is hardware faillure. Can you run the QT from here: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/multi-oem-retail-project-mrp-mk3.71555/#post-1283849 and post the saved report txt here in code tags? It should show more detailed info on the physically installed amount of RAM, like this: Code: Total Present : 15.69 GB Presently Used : 12.38 GB Available : 3.31 GB [21.08%] Type {3} : Non-ECC RAM Design {24} : DDR3 Max Sockets : 4 {May vary depending on the Motherboard's original prototype design or revision} MotherBoard Max Capacity : 32768 MB {Depends on the Chipset's memory array, 4GB or below could mean per slot} Max Amount Per Slot : 8192 MB Memory Present Per Slot : 1:8192MB 2:8192MB Slot1 : ChannelA-DIMM1, 8 GB, 1333 Mhz, P/N: F3-12800CL10-8GBXL Slot3 : ChannelB-DIMM1, 8 GB, 1333 Mhz, P/N: F3-12800CL10-8GBXL Slots Information : Total: 4 / Free: 2
I manually took them both out and found them to be two different sizes, one for 1 the other for 2GB, at lest that is what is written... very weird. Two different labels... I ordered two new 2GB from Amazon right away, I will let you know what happens. Thank you all very much....
No, I am waiting for the two ram chips, they should arrive 3.1. and 9.1. They are sent from Shenzhen, from a company called "Happy Lemon Tea" (I am not making this up....)
Thanks but I would have dome that if there were four, but there are only the two red ones. I have tried both slots with both of them, I have tried each one single in either of the sockets. The screen now remains black, and all I can do is switch off with the power stick. I now have two working 1GB sticks inside and the computer works as before..... =until, it freezes again after a while, when playing a long video. All four sticks say DDR2 and 800, so the 2GB ones also ought to work? Or is there another spec that needs to be correct, as far as memory sticks go? The red colour socket does not mean they only work for 1GB sticks, as the link I posted says <2GB ?
From the specs on that board...only has two slots for ram, max 4gb in each slot. This is an old board....may need to have the caps checked too, I hate to see the op spend $$$ on memory that he may or may not need, because new,/used/older ddr2 memory sticks may not fix this issue
could be a issue with hes mem modules or worst a bad mobo also again check that PSU it could be failing u seem to only concentrate on the memory u have to run a complete diagnostic of your machine.
I answered the suggestion with the HW Diagnostic tool. and thank you, someone already mailed it, its small...
I have run the test, and the result is about a mile long and is an .HTM file which opens in the browser. How can I add this to a forum post?
