ok now click add... type following in command name : Take Ownership type following in program path : cmd.exe /c takeown /f "%1" && icacls "%1" /grant administrators:F and select "...all extensions" then click next that shoud do the trick try it out ps: u will need to do this for .wsc aswell
don't delete open notepad !!!! click edit : enter following in command name : Open enter following in program path : "C:\Windows\System32\WScript.exe" "%1" %* click next now you will see this : "Microsoft @Windows based script host this gives you the windows based popups needed for opatools.
so you have open with command prompt set as "Microsoft @ Console based script host" and open as "Microsoft @ Windows based script host" so for .wsc this : and for .wsf this :
could be, but doens't seem likely. do you have "open with command prompt" set as default for .wsf and "Generic Type Library" set as default for .wsc ?
it doens't save ? are you logged in on an administrator account ? can you show me what you've got now for .wsf ?
just hang five i've just done an image restore it's still doing it gone do a full virus scan . and start again from first post. be right back
I know for a fact that this is where your problem lies and that it should work when open is set as default as windows based scripting host. Then it opens those nice window-based popups instead of notepad. Can't get my mind around the fact that it doens't work for you. Something got messed up in your .wsf .wsc .wsh settings. Could be malware, but i'm betting it's not... Let me know how it progresses. If needed we'll go through the whole procedure again.
something defiently wrong I'm runing as admin and those settings aint saving. I'm from England btw thanks for your help if I never sort this out theres always a fresh install.
you're welcome. normally the "wscript H:wscript" command is sufficient, but as that don't work for you, you need to dig deeper. Question is, is it worth the time and effort, cause exept for some command line based tools like opatool, you'll hardly need it (unless you write scripts every day). we could try again from page 1 tomorrow, if you feel like it. nevertheless, it was my pleasure, too bad it isn't solved allready...
try choosing "different program" (above right) and navigate to c:\windows\system32\wscript.exe and set that as default program for .wsf and .wsh
that's normal when applying through the controlpanel applet. just apply that to .wsf and .wsh now windows should, and i say should, open scripts in window poppups instead of notepad.
just done a restore from an image of first install. everythings working as it should thanks again for the help.
