OP 380 comes with Win7 by default (so original Dell SLIC etc) But it has NO options in BIOS for IDE mode selection, it is basically locked to a legacy IDE PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27DF&SUBSYS_04001028&REV_01\3&172E68DD&0&F9 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27C0&SUBSYS_04001028&REV_01\3&172E68DD&0&FA Intel 82801G ICH7 Family Does anybody think that this could be "adjusted" by a mod? Thanks sebus
Depend of southbridge chipset Plain ICH7 doesn't support SATA AHCI . First identify your chipset 82801XXX and see which variant is then if sata is supported ... many work to do. In my case ICH7-M on inspiron I've managed to write chipset registers and set ABAR using custom pci option rom but after that comes more problems can't boot from internal disk, altough booting linux or live win7 from external disk all seems fine. And for ICH7 family can't find ahci option rom, just raid rom exist.
Bugger, they (Dell) just made a nice desktop (with all the VT bits) and used c**p chipset Thanks sebus
