Then install something like vmware on WinXP and then use it to install Win7 in the VM(Virtual Install) of the same copy of win7 that you have physically installed. An example would be that if you installed win7 Ultimate x32 then install that same version in vmware and just copy the whole folder called "System32" from the VM to the windows folder on your physical copy of win7. So if that is unclear once you installed win7 virtually go to "Computer/C:/windows" and copy that whole system32 folder from the VM to your harddrive that has win7 installed so like "D:\Windows\" and replace all files. This will fix your issue but you may have to reinstall so drivers again but that is not that big of deal to do. Hope this helps. BTW What version of win7 do you have?
I have Win7 Ultimate x64 installed. So there is no repository with that or similar files online for idiots like me to just download and paste into the system32 folder?
No, I am afraid there is not. If you want I can install win7 x64 in a vm but I won't have it ready til tomorrow if you want me to do that for you dude.
Wow, sounds awesome as I barely get the VM concept let alone installing one and using it. Before you do, can I just use the RemoveWat and live that way indefinitely? if so I will as I don't want to chew any more of your time. I was told this bios thing was permanent and no worries or I never would have made the effort to make the move in the first place. I have moved a lot of installs over the years, and after 12 years of this, this has been the hardest, the fact that my .iaf files did not work and I had to install Outlook, import to it, then transfer the registry and then enter all the pw's from myriad accounts was mind boggling enough. Whose idea at Redmond was it to make email transfering harder? Steve Jobs in a beard?
You probably can but the only problem is there is no way to tell what activation technique will last forever. For example what will happen when ppl try to install the offical SP1 release. Who knows. That is the problem.
now if they had only done a student special on ultimate here I would not even be doing this. lol If you have time to do the VM thing, it would be a good experiment, if not no worries.
Yea, I can do it. I have to finish up some things here on win7 then I will bootup XP and use the VM to see if I can do that. I have some downloads to test on a VM anyway so there is really no big deal dude.
tks, you can PM me directly when you are done if that is easier for you, if not I will keep checking the thread tomorrow. edit: wait, I may be in luck. I have gone back into my XP install and am running File Scavenger on the Win 7 drive. I has found the slmgr.vbs and says it is recoverable. I wonder if there are any others I will need. When the search is done I will recover it and put it back into sysem32 and try again.
Ok that is good to hear. I will PM Hazar to find out exactly what files RemoveWAT removes so you can restore every one of them. BTW I would remove the WAT update unless you want it installed cause RemoveWAT installs that update and then disables it.
OK recovered the file and copied it over the one that was there, still says it cannot find it... no joy
OK, ran the tool, it fixed a cbs.log file? Then when I rebooted the build 7600 is not genuine message was back on the desktop in bottom right. Ran Opa and installed a cert and key. Ran option A, it failed. Did that again with a few different keys and certs, still failed. Went out tried to activate. Said I needed to delete the update. Did that, reinstalled it. It passed. YAY! Went back into Opa and ran option A and it states permanently activated. Here's hoping it sticks and is not bad when I wake up again. So far so good, heck so far so great! Thanks everyone in this thread you have all been so helpful. I will keep you informed of how things go and thank you all again.
it's nice to hear that u finally activated..enjoy free OS..thanks to all devs here at MDL..they deserve the credits
ARGH! tried using removeWAT and now can't get Windows to boot, after a lot of restarting can now get it to the menu for safe mode etc but can't get it past that. If I boot from the CD and let it run it gets to starting Windows but then sticks so no repair option, If I use F8 get the menu but the options don't work and it does the same or gives me a black screen or the same with a cursor... no way to get into windows and no way to reinstall/repair, if anyone can help or suggest anything it would be great :0) Edit: now getting to install Windows, said no, restarted and in recovery console but that is now not accepting the admin password :S oh *rolls eyes* it has now booted me into windows with the help of the Disc... why is it nothing works till you ask then it does lol... Going to try to restart without the help of the disc *fingers crossed*. OK in but with a boot menu. Previous Version, Windows 7 or Recovery Console, previous version jumps me to recovery console, so I right in thinking the system is using the files installed from the disc as a crutch to load windows? I'm not sure wether to leave as is and don't mess with it as it's booting me into Windows and all my stuff is available or if I should uninstall RemoveWAT? Also if I leave it can I change the delay on the automatic selection?
I'm trying and not work. The activation freezes and no show progress bar. Please, help me! 7 Ultimate x64
help! i installed RemoveWAT, but my windows is still being detected as not genuine. wallpaper is black, and there's a "Windows 7; Build 7600; This copy of Windows is not genuine" watermark on the lower right hand corner of the screen. When i checked my systems properties, there was no activation section, so RemoveWAT is doing its job there. but why is my windows being detected as not genuine? what's going on? is it an update i installed?
IN cmd line run "sfc /scannow" When the software protection is not automatic it will give that watermark
Hi guys. I haven't really been on this site for a while, since I enjoyed using RemoveWAT. So I just wanted to know, has there been other crack updates released? I think i've got 2.5.0? Ain't it called that? And also, has there been released another update like KB971033 just more effective?
