I thought this was working, and then (about three months later) my screen went black, and now I'm getting the "Activate Windows Now (or else)" popups when I logon. I had used RemoveWAT when I installed Windows 7 this year, and accepted no updates from Microsoft, as some of them are trojans (they can't all be known, when they are MS can always release new ones), and I have much greater faith in my firewalls, virus and antimalware scanners, which are regularly updated. I would consider the possibility that something could have been slipped in with one of the programs which I installed, but RemoveWat still thinks that WAT has been removed already, so I can't even try to remove it again. I sure hope you can fix this! Thanks.
In•va•sive > Characterized by or involving invasion; offensive Invading, or tending to invade; intrusive. Incursive, invading, encroaching, trespassing. Tending to intrude or encroach, as upon privacy. Any crack or program written to pirate software shares the description INVASIVE. RemoveWat is NO MORE invasive then other tools found on this site or anywhere else for that matter. When used properly RemoveWat is the easiest tool to use and it does what it is suppose to do. I have used RemoveWat on two different computer systems and both worked properly after the installs and they continue work smoothly.
Sorry, I somehow thought I was starting a new thread - my brain's a little fried, but I didn't mean to hijack this!
Bill$, removeWAT actually install WAT. The WAT(KB971033) installed by removeWAT is basicaly disabled, for defend purpose. So don't worry when you see KB971033 is installed when you use removeWAT. if you get black screen, watermark, and the activate now pop up screen, try restoreWAT which is offer by the removeWAT, then removeWAT again, and it should fix the issue, but i'm not sure will it fix the issue permenantly. Your OS could be flagged as non-genuine due to other activator such as BIE or somethingelse (In my case it was BIE). If this is your case, then try using loader.
Thanks, it's good to know that for future reference. Unfortunately, I needed to reinstall for an unrelated reason, and then I remembered what probably caused me to get flagged. One of the programs I installed, or maybe it was the third party disk partitioner which finally expanded my Windows 7 partition (try doing this with Microsoft's Disk Management when you have Windows 7 and SURPRIZE - Windows won't do this anymore, although it will still happily delete partitions for you), whichever it was left my system 99.9% useless. So I brilliantly went to the Windows Repair system, which didn't help, but I think it was after this that I got all the WAT nags again. The wonderful Windows Repair system told me that I had absolutely no restore points to select, but I know that I Ok'd at least a few of them while I was running Comodo. Anyone have experience with this, or know the fundamental difference between what they now call a "restore point" and just saving a copy of the registry under different names every so often (which I shoulda got around to, but I'll bet MS made finding the right files to save a whole new project unto itself)? *sigh*, I feel old - I actually remember when you could just copy the hard drive contents onto some specialized device which made it practical (like maybe a tape drive) and that was it. At least I didn't lose my files this time.
Regarding the disk management issue, you need to turn the disk from basic disk to dynamic disk, which allow shrink, expand, and etc. (Not sure if this is your issue about). Kinda weird when you have no restore point to choose from if you made changes (install/uninstalll software). Try to check if your system protection is on. I'm not sure what is the command to run this, but i usually run it from contrl panel. Here's the path Control Panel>system>system protection. under the configure button, check if your system protection is on. You can also create system backup under control panel>backup and restore. But i'm doubt if you will use the system backup because it consume alot of disk space, a lot more than your system size should be.
My Win7 ran out today and got the black screen. Got the messages saying I need to activate etc. So I restored WAT. Rebooted. Removed it again. Rebooted. It now works fine. Quality little program I have to say.
hi guys! i really dont know if this has been asked before... after using RemoveWAT, can we somehow install MSE, without hiccups?
jumpin jehosefat!!!! it did passed... currently updating MSE... thanks sir! will monitor through out the day for some fishy effects...
I'm a newbie to this site and have just run the RemoveWat program. Is it a good idea to install additional updates from MS (Windows 7 Ultimate) or will I run into problems again? Apologies if this question was asked before.
The answer you are looking for is on the same post as the download link. Please READ carefully. RemoveWAT - A safer activation solution. WORKS ON ALL EDITIONS OF 7/R2! NOT FOR VISTA/ORIGINAL SERVER 2008!!!! IMPROVEMENTS SINCE 1.0: renames slmgr on x64 aswell Works on unicode systems silent mode with /s switch UI tweaked slightly No reboot neccessary Passes WGA on X64 This is a little tool I put together to remove WAT (Windows Activation Technologies) completely from the OS, whilst still retaining genuine status and receiving all updates (optional aswell). You can also pass the genuine check in things like Windows Defender. There will be no windows activation section in control panel (thanks to nononsence) no slmgr no nags, no prompts, nothing. WAT gone.
Validation vs activation As long as UPDATES aren't disabled! I am assuming since everyone seems so happy with this code that VALIDATION is OK to be left alone and ACTIVATION is important. Not being sarcastic, just a bit confused...
Oh yep, lol. I was wrong in my testing, that was before I had fully studied it and gt a full understanding of how all the components interoperate.
Hello Hazar. I am new to the site and I just want to be clear on my expectations: RemoveWAT will get rid of the annoying Activation beating me over the head but it will NOT Validate successfully. That's what I am experiencing and I just want to be sure. This thread has become very lengthy and I've been reading for the past two hours and I'm still not sure about the Validation. I'm sure you've answered this 100 times. Thanks for 101. dfwsportsfan
