did anyone find that if you dont update thru windows update first prior to using removewat225, then updating stalls when you try to shutdown after just updating?

    clear? lol

or am i doing wrong? i understand that one of the recent updates might affect removewat?

I see that Microsoft has released a lot of updates (11) on 10th Aug 2010.
Is it safe to apply them with WAT removed ?
Anyone already tried to install every update with WAT removed?

    Thanks

what happens when using sfc /scannow ?

what should happen when using command sfc /scannow ? i tried and at next restart win7 says that i use a non-genuine copy of windows 7 with watermark in right bottom corner and ms security essentials claims that in 30 days without registration will be expired, REMOVEWAT last version is installed and i restored wat today then removed it again after restart and everything back genuine, please tell me if sfc /scannow had replaced some important wat files that were changed by removewat, i don't understand.
afterward last wrong thing remained in windows was the watermark and i removed it with a utility found in internet, a watermark remover specific for my version of win7. then i found kb971033 win update installed and i didn't know why, because i uninstalled it before, then i uninstalled it again. now is all correct with removewat.

Well I have used this great hazar remove WAT tool in 3 machines since it came out. It has worked great until yesterday. MS has caught on and now nags me to download a fix to the WAT on my pc and claims it has been modified.

Of course it has been modified, I just want the nags to go away! Anyone have any clue? Thanks!!

Uninstall removeWAT and use either chew7 or windows loader. RemoveWAT has not been updated on a long time, but the two others programs have.

i think you must restore wat and then remove wat ,with removewat, only 1 time and everything will be ok

Thanks for the info guys. Turns out I was one update behind on RemoveWAT. I downloaded 2.5.2 and removed the WAT succesfully. I do want to look into chew 7 though. Can't find but one random torrent of it though...

Has removeWat been hijacked ? Latest version gave me the KB971033 that I didn't have before. File size is 6.35mb and thats a LOT bigger than earlier versions. Space perhaps for KB971033 ? Downloaded from forum page 1 link.
Can anyone reassure me ? Thanks. PS I'm getting frequent instant reboots now.

The latest RemoveWAT installs KB971033 and then disables it..it theory. Still, if you gets reboots, you don't have the RTM version of windows 7?? Build 7600?? RemoveWAT do only work on the RTM version, and not any RC/Beta versions.

But Microsoft has detected RemoveWAT and it's not a recommended hack to use any more if you want a real "genuine" Windows 7 computer. Try the loader from Daz etc, but still, you need the RTM version of Win7.

Thanks for the quick response. Somewhat relieved (except for the "...in therory" lol)

Yes it is 7100.0.090421-1700_x86fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate-grc1culfrer_en_dvd.iso dated 23/07/09.
Been working fine until adding latest removewat. Had an older version installed previously though from what you say there wasn't any point or effect.

Its a pity there was no mention of the (unusual) method ie installing the msoft mod killer as part of a fix.

I never intended to install anything (much) on the win 7 trial. Just meant to get the feel of it on a dual boot system. However over time i DID !! and now ive no idea how to preserve the contents. Ive just downloaded a 32bit iso but idealy I would wish to revamp/upgrade/or make official this 7100 installation. Including paying for it. I suspect its not possible.

It's not possible to convert a 7100 installation to a fully working retail version no, not even if you want to pay for it. I'm sure that I have seen a "hack" or something like that, but I can not find it, and I don't know if it really works. I had done a clean install with a RTM version and started over again. And if you want to run Win7 without paying for it, use the loader from Daz, and not RemoveWat on the new install.
