Without being rude, I just find it funny/ironic this post coming from a member with that username lmfao.
I get the following error when trying to install removewat, any advice much appreciated: Problem signature: Problem Event Name:CLR20r3 Problem Signature 01:removewat.exe Problem Signature 02:2.2.5.2 Problem Signature 03:4b8d3552 Problem Signature 04:Microsoft.VisualBasic Problem Signature 05:8.0.0.0 Problem Signature 06:4a277ad7 Problem Signature 07:5e Problem Signature 08:1e2 Problem Signature 09:34SSPS20BDJ3NJ0WMIT5KAMZHVGLFZCC OS Version:6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID:4105
I've used RemoveWAT and removed the genuine check, however I'm still receiving a warning that my windows 7 isn't genuine and asking me to activate online. Other than that warning I've not experienced any other problem though. Should I be worried?
I used an older version of RemoveWAT (one that didn't even have a GUI) on my computer that is using a legitimate copy of Windows 7. This was purely accidental, mind you. Since then, I receive the "Windows is not genuine" message in the lower right corner of my desktop sometimes. I downloaded the newest version in this thread and to my avail it has a GUI but it says WAT isn't removed but I assure you it is. I just received that message again right now. The way I get rid of it is by right-clicking 'Computer' and going to 'Properties'. That's it and the message goes away. However, I feel a bit uneasy about seeing that message on a legitimate copy of Windows 7. I bought the computer from Best Buy and it didn't even come with recovery CDs or anything :/ My question is this, can I use the newest version to remove the WAT and then use it again to restore it so things are back to the way they should or what should I do? Edit: Apparently there is software pre-installed that I can make a recovery disc with. But before recovering everything back to manufacturer settings what can I do?
except WAT fix doesn't work perfectly every time. My slui.exe is still tampered, and sfc /scannow doesn't fix it either. Check the DAZ loader thread for info
Never said it worked 100% but, 9 out of 10 times WATFix does work. But if you don't try WATFix/Sfc /scannow you'll never know if it worked.
@hsram Try doing a sfc /scannow in an elevated command prompt. Edit: RemoveWAT should be used as a LAST resort for those of you who can not manage to activate via a BIOS mod or a loader. As i stated earlier, it butchers your system files and changes permissions on files. This is not a knock on Hazar he's done a lot of good for a lot of people here at MDL. At least you should try to understand how something works before you blindly throw a program on your computer.
What Hazar is doing is amazing and I love it. I used it on my laptop and it works perfectly with what I need to do. I simply accidentally ran it on my desktop (I had it renamed as a different name). I already did a sfc /scannow and it came up with a bunch of files that were corrupted (I would like to say 8 or so). After running the WAT Fix, it went down to 1 file and it was the file I mentioned.
Sorry guys, just want to make sure I don't get ignored with my issue. If someone is looking into it I appreciate it. If it's simply something that can't be debugged then just please say so, so I don't have the grievience of having to monitor this thread, etc. I hate to have to keep re-posting asking over and over again about it. If this comes across as being in-patient, I just noticed that other people were getting taken care of...
