There is no need to patch every patch released by Microsoft. The days of pre-SP1 Windows XP are over. Ialways turn off auto updates, even for genuine Windows.

yes, that's a possibility but it can also block you from accessing the windows update or install new updates dled if a specific patch is not present on your machine. so u'll need another patch to patch the patch, etc, it's a never ending story.
the idea of a windows 7 without any online activation and protection is very nice but it's a story of patch things all the time.
or maybe there's a solution somewhere to get an OS without a protection, it means recode from the start many things.
not an easy job, that's why MS choosed the bios way for OEM to keep a hard protection for the online activation. they could keep the xp way with the VLK but they knew that just one key from a big firm was not able to be blacklisted.
i got one from HP that is working for so many years, never get blacklisted.
and now to clean vista or windows 7 from the new protection seems a never stop patching files.
i'm lucky as someone found a way to mod my dell bios, but i understand a soft way is needed for people that cant deal with their bios.

Hi Hazar, after many tests,I can conclude that the use of the wat 1.7 and 1.8 with Windows server 2008 R2 creates many instability problems, for example:frequentely reboots at logon screen (wat 1.8),the impossibility to activate correctly features like desktop experience or web services (wat 1.7).The only wat really working is the 1.6 version that I'm using now...I hope that you'll solve these problems in the future release of wat...however thanks for your work...:)

Well I don't know what is going on guys. But i am using the 1.5 loader and had been running RemoveWAT 1.6 (I think) and all was well. Your readme suggested updating to the latest 1.8 and I did so. Only this morning I came down to a popup saying I'm not genuine. I uninstalled RemoveWAT 1.8 and it's back to genuine again. WAT gives? ;)

EDIT: Nevermind. I decided to flash with a SLIC 2.1 the BIOS on this PC. Uninstalled 1.5 loader and used the BIOS method instead. All working well (Hopefully permanently). I will probably uninstall the loader from my Netbook and try RemoveWAT at a later date to see if that works.

Since Hazar's taking this much time since his previous release :D, one hopes that he's perfecting his skills and ironing out the bugs to totally defeat MS, right?:)

Do you think so?? Hahaha... Maybe he's learning new skills.. Anyway I doubt that he can totally defeat ms... 18 releases already and there was actually more talkings (perfect activation solution!!!) than abilities...without actually being perfect...and this without ms updates... now just imagine that ms releases a series of updates (or even one) that modifies the system licencing and how the os is validated...he will be totally beated by ms...so sad to tell it but Im realist. Dont take it bad...

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I would appreciate it if you took the time to understand these methods before you make a comment.

Jesus, people......Have you seen how long MS takes to push out updates? Even IF they can block what Hazar and others are doing in, say, a month, I'd bet Hazar will have us back up and running in a matter of days, if not hours. If you can't appreciate what's being done, leave and buy the software. Hazar, f**k these people and thanks again for all your work.

I actually appreciate what is being done... Yes when i think well.. Ms can't just change validation algorithm like this...it implies many things.. Like for the people who actually bought legit windows.. So hazar just explain it to me

    try this

    sfc /scannow

    :p

    removes the removewat patch

its easy to get rid of with the os itself and i thought that tool was supposed to be run before a service pack went in?

    Code:

Microsoft (R) Windows (R) Resource Checker Version 6.0
Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

Scans the integrity of all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with
    correct Microsoft versions.

imagine this M$ runs that before and after every update is installed

What if ms didn't have enough priviledges to correct all the files that were patched? Can this be achived?

Won't affect or change the files modified by RemoveWAT. This has already been taken into account and accounted for by HAZAR. But maybe HAZAR can clear this up nicely again for you? I know I read it somewhere.

But that's the ideal command to use, when you remove an old RemoveWAT, before you install a new one.

Personally, I think anybody who patches system files is asking for trouble. All the solutions that have lasted do not patch system files and the ones that do require constant updates.

By downloading updates you give M$ permission to patch your files and when they decide to target patched system files they will probably break your system much more than a few nagging reminders about going legit.

They wound back Vista's antipiracy because Vista was a dismal flop.

They NEED 7 to be a total success.

But, if 7 rescues them from the Vista poor sales debacle they will come back at piracy with a vengence and they will certainly attack patched system files first as it is easy.

can I ask a question that may mark me out as a noob?

Please bear with me & I will try to explain.

I get a window on start up that tells me to enter my key, or activate later. I select activate later. After my desktop loads, my background has gone, but can be restored by personalising. I then get a window that tells me I 'may be a victim of software counterfeiting', which I close without any problem.

When I try to open text files, notepad & word etc, or some folders, I get another window that tells me that I am 'not using a genuine version of Windows', and there is a link if I wish to 'resoilve online'.

I do not get any countdown timer saying that I have 30 days or less left, whichsome people seem to get.

    My question is this:
If I run this RemoveWAT, will I then get a time limit? Should I just put up with the occasional pop up window rather than risk getting stuck with a reducing counter?

    Many thanks guys

    and big respect to Hazar
