Hazar- Several folks seem to be interested in the 2.2 release. Can you give us a guesstimate? A couple of weeks? This month (Feb '10)? First quarter? Thanks for this and all your work
This is probably not the answer BUT the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\Paintdesktopversion is what controls whether the text "windows 7 Build 7600" is displayed on your desktop at the lower right corner. If the value for this key is 1 it is displayed - if it is zero it is not. Can't say if changing it will work for you but you can try.
Actually, the not genuine part takes along the build 7600 thing too, no matter what. It's done by sppsvc.
Hazar, I had the same problem as a guy had earlier in this thread: my screen turns black and windows activation warning pops up. However, when I try and use the sc command you supplied, it says that command is not reckognized! Help would be appreciated
I've used 2.1 on a great number of configurations, desktops as well as laptops. So far, looking good, no reported problems. I think one important thing is to stay clear of other patches within the same installation. If one is tried and failes, reinstall the lot before trying some other software. Kudos, H!
I used 2.1 before 3 days. Everything appears to be well, but Everest continues to counted remaining days to activation. I am sorry for poor English
I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise, and I attempted RemoveWAT yesterday for the first time, using the file downloaded from the first post of this thread. The installer got to about 1/4 of the way through the progress bar, then all progress stopped. Hours passed, with no more progress made, and CPU activity shown in Task Manager. Closing it required ending the process in Task Manager, and in the times I've run the program since, the progress bar jumps to 1/4 and then goes no further. Can anyone give me any advice for things to try, or a way to get more information to troubleshoot it?
RemoveWAT 2.2 has been released, which should fix all current issues. Please see the about box for changes!
First thing my sincerely greetings for this great job This version stills freezing when using in W2008 R2 in a VirtualBox v 3.1.2 anyway perfect job
Unfortunately, I seem to be suffering the same issue as before, only the progress bar now stops at about 1/10 instead of 1/4. I also can't help noticing after beginning RemoveWAT that I have duplicates of many of my Windows services listed in Task Manager... cmd.exe, conhoast.exe, net.exe, and net1.exe have all inexplicably doubled up. [[EDIT: After rebooting and attempting again, there are no more duplicate services, but RemoveWAT still hangs early. After ending the task and attempting it again, the duplicate services came back. Yeesh.]]
