Okay, here we go. I guess the only place to start is at the beginning. Downloaded Orbit30's windows 7 AIO preactivated, which after a restart gave 3 days to activate. That release was promptly pulled, and replaced, unbeknownst to me. Looked around and found this decent little app. that seemed to work like a charm.(Ver. 2.1.3) I think. This was I think about 2 weeks ago. Last night though, while restarting my comp, I noticed in the bottom right corner, this copy of windows is not genuine, or something to that effect. Took a quick look, and sure enough I had 14 days to activate. So I've been looking around some more, and found Version 2.2 So I've now used RemoveWAT 2.1.3 to uninstall itself and used Version 2.2 to do its magic. Looks like it worked, as it did with Version 2.1.3 There is no activation notice again. Hope it stays this time, since I've spent a lot of time getting this thing tweaked the way I want it. I'm sure the problem comes from the preactivated release that wasn't really preactivated. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks again Hazar. Should mention this is Win7 Ultimate 64 bit.
@dukesdad You should look 2 posts up Not saying that you installed that update but as you can see it could get defixed by WGA/WAT/windows malicious software removal tool updates, and another RemoveWAT get released once it get "defixed" so you should drop by for updates if you want to stay activated using RemoveWAT
So what you're saying is every month or so I just need to update and run RemoveWat again? Sounds easy enough.
Not saying that RemoveWAT gets update every month, how offen you want to check "if" there is update depends on you. Once a month , more or less, you can even come back as far as you get nags again.
2.1 for me passed the patch day succesfully with -UP2DATE Nov rel. as far as I can see yet no need to reapply, the license information and activation link on right clicking the computer are still hidden. I think its better to update your RemoveWat once you get problems nor if first use.
Hi Hazar! I tried your last RemoveWAT version, and the activation info (in control panel) is removed, but some times on my desktop there is written that the windows version is not yet verified or something like that (white letters in front of the desktop wallpaper, on the lower right of the screen)... Ill post the exact text if it appears the second time (dissapeared after i went to the control panel activation dialog - non visible though... It is a volume version which normally needs a activation server to work, i do not know if that makes any difference...
Updated to 2.2.2, should fix the minor watermark issue on some PCs and finally fix the genuine check on 32bit, thanks to secr9tos! As always link remains the same It is also now less agressive so should now work on more OSes of the same platform (possible fix for WHS 2010 dashboard crash)
Siiigh. I had such high hopes, but same outcome as before. This time, my desktop icons disappear, and it seems RemoveWAT causes Explorer.exe to end. I don't know if this is intentional or accidental but there doesn't seem to be an error of any kind from it. There's a spike in CPU usage, the bar jumps to about 10%, then CPU usage comes to a halt and nothing else happens. If you ever get a chance to send me the debug version, I'd be happy to give it a try, though I'll be going out of town tomorrow afternoon so it may be about a week before I can test it if it doesn't come sooner.
This is so strange. I'll compile a debug version for you and send it to you, or something. I don't know how on earth it is getting stuck though!
File link If the base url has not changed what is new file name for v2.2? ( I know RemoveWAT21.rar is outdated.) Thanks
In the 1st post is still 2.2.1...can you update with 2.2.2? Thx a lot Hazar, for all your work...!!! l.e. I guess, I was wrong !!! sorry, I doubble checked and it is 2.2.2.0
Even though the file name hasn't changed, the current file in the link is 2.2.2. You can confirm it in the About section when you download it.
