installed 7loader last November (did remove 30 day activation, though "evaluation version" watermark still shows on my desktop) and Windows Validation got me yesterday.

so I did a reinstallation then do the simple steps by RF9, installed KB971033, installed removeWAT, then "evaluation version" waterwark on my desktop is gone. I think it just works :) Thank you guys!

I just wondering, according to what I read, there will be an "expiration" for all RC on March 2010, does this thing will still take effect after I installed RemoveWat?

"Not Genuine" watermark after running RemoveWAT 2.2

I wrote all the following BEFORE reading any of the recent posts in this thread. But its all still valid. I just need to mention up front that (as of now), I have don't have KB971033 installed on my system. As mentioned below, this laptop was set up on a freshly formatted HD on Feb 12, and all updates were applied then. I then came back to the machine on Feb 19, and the only relevant update that M$ update installed was for Windows Defender. So as of now, I don't have KB971033 installed. And thanks to reading the prior posts, I never will. ;)

So anyway, here's what I wrote before reading the prior posts.

I have no idea if this is something new, or just a weird quirk, but I thought I'd post it here just in case anyone else starts to see it.

I did a fresh Win 7 Ultimate (x64) on my Toshiba 355-S6879 laptop on Feb 12 (about a week ago). Of course, the very first thing I did after completing the install, was to run RemoveWAT (v2.2.4).

After running RemoveWAT, I rebooted and let Windows Update install all Important and Recommended updates from M$. I also installed a dozen or so of my standard prgs (Firefox, Chrome, CCleaner, Avast, etc). All of this was very normal, and just like I've done many other times.

I then put the laptop away for a while, and came back to it yesterday (Feb 19). Windows update informed me of an update to Windows Defender, and also recommended new drivers for the external monitor and usb wireless keyboard/mouse that I connected yesterday. All of these downloaded and installed without any issue.

While these were installing I stared up Firefox, and expanded it to fill the screen. In other words, I didn't look at the desktop for several hours, only used Firefox.

About 30 minutes ago (approx 6am CST, Feb 20), I shrank Firefox and that's when I first noticed in the bottom right hand corner a message telling me the following:
    Windows 7
    Build 7600
    This copy is not genuine
(It may have said "This copy of Windows is not genuine", I can't recall for sure)

At that point I rebooted, ran RemoveWAT (2.2.4), and undid the previous changes (restored WAT?). When I rebooted the message was gone, and according to the Properties page for My Computer I had 22 days left in my evaluation period. I then ran RemoveWAT (2.2.4) again, and rebooted. As of now, everything is the way it should be after running RemoveWAT.

I also did a check of Windows Update, and there were no new updates listed. At this point I don't know how to force Windows to do a check to see if it recognizes this copy as genuine, or pirated.

For what it's worth, I just now installed the same Windows Defender update (KB915597 Definition 1.75.924.0) on my desktop machine and rebooted. It did not come up with any message about that copy of Windows being not genuine. Both of these machines had Win 7 installed to freshly formatted HD's on the same day (Feb 12), but the DVD's I used came from different ISO's. The Desktop machine has Win 7 Enterprise (x32), and as mentioned, the laptop has Win 7 Ultimate (x64). I've used both of these DVD's before, and never had any problems. But it could be theoretically possible that there are differences which are significant regarding this issue.

Anyway. It could just be a nothing. It could be just a weird glitch. But it surprised me because I've been using RemoveWAT (since 1.6), and had no problems at all. So I wanted to post here, and include as much detail of the occurrence as possible, just in case anyone else starts seeing the same thing happen.

Regardless, All Hail and Respect to Hazar for such a Kick-Ass and Awesome utility.
    YOU ROCK! :worthy:

Hey guys, I just wondered. I heard that KB971033 is included in Service Pack 1, when it gets released. Is it just simple what to do then? I mean like: Restore WAT, install Service Pack 1, apply RemoveWAT. But then, at that time, isn't my 30-days trial over then? So, will it be possible to apply RemoveWAT again?

Yeah, saw that too. I got a report that the newer version doesn't do this.

I am writing this for anyone worried about KB971033
yesterday Feb 20 2010 I I had to install windows 7 . to make make an hour long story short here is what I did insert disk, started the install process let it do its thing, got to the point where it wanted the key I pressed next or skip or whatever it was called to get past that , when asked about updates picked the recomened option, let it do its thing then when all was installed went to windows update , let it do its thing after all that was said and done installed remove wat 2.2 , rebooted right clicked on Computer didn't see anything about 30 days or whatever so I'm all good.
Now about that KB971033 thing I don't know if it was installed or not for sure but I think it was because when I looked at the updates page it was not there but it also was not in the available updates

But is that what people right now are focusing on? Cause I don't think the job is done.

One of the problems for example is the "self-healing" encryption

Can that happen to us, with RemoveWAT applied?
