What happens when using "self-healing" encryption?

To sum it up: The WAT components have self-healing encryption which makes it difficult to alter or crack.

Ok, secr9tos. Just one more thing for now. If KB971033 is included in SP1, do we have to install SP1? Because right now, my computer are running fine without any updates.

Read somewhere, SP1 will include fixes for touch displays.

You do not have to install the SP, you will get critical updates. However, I believe (but may be wrong) that ms has in the past disabled windows update for those who have not installed a service pack, I believe that happened with XP rtm (but again I may be mistaken).

Bottom line is that there is no reason to install SP1 unless there is something you have to have. MS may not include watu in SP1, but I can almost gaurantee that they will require a validation before you CAN install it.

So as I said, I actually don't need to download Service Pack 1?

Not unless there is something non critical that you need, all of the appropriate critical and important updates will be available, until some time in the distan future that MS decides that they will no longer provides updates for rtm.

Back in the windows 95 days conventional wisdom was to install only the updates and patches that you needed. Windows 95 did have a major revision called OSR2 (windows 95 B) but for the most part people running 95 a survived just fine unless they needed something specific (such as USB functionality). THe only reason I install SP's is because I like to stay current since I work on computers, it doesn't instill confidence when a customer hears me say "what's this? this is new" while working on their computer.

As I understood Hazar, Removewat works, do the job, cracks Win7, whether WATU is present or not. Windows is updated regularily, ne nags, no nothing, regardless the failure at MS genuine page. So what a heck? System is working :)
    No use of "What ifs"

    Update KB971033

I'm running Hazar's BIOS loader on my machine, and I tried installing KB971033. Windows 7 was then unactivated. Then I tried running removewat 2.2 and that seems to work. WAT is gone, the update is listed under installed updates, but when I visit microsoft.com/genuine, they can't validate my copy, and asks me to reinstall the update.

I haven't had a problem with it yet, as long as the checking by microsoft.com/genuine isn't mandatory.

I understand installing KB971033 for experimentative purposes, but for the general users here, please understand that KB971033 is really just M$ spyware, and thus you SHOULD NOT INSTALL IT. There is no benefit to you, the user, from installing KB971033, just M$.

Good to hear RWAT 2.2.4 is beating it for now though. :)

Yup, it's just spyware. Too bad MSSE doesn't block it thougho_O Anyway, it shouldn't be that much of a problem if this is included in SP1.
