key combinations burnt your cd at 1x and verified it i belive that i just dont know the right magic key combo what i have tried: fn esc fn b fn c fn f fn r fn F10 win b win f win c win r f (just holding the f key) j r alt f1 alt f10 alt f12 F11 F12 I cannot think of any other combos i've seen. do you know any more ? Thanks sooo much for all you efforts. If i cant get a flash programmer, this is now officialy paperweight
bad news or incompetent technician ? just talked to a guy at the local comp store who had done the same as I (probably not the same brand laptop, but it had the Insyde system as well), and as long as you completely flash a bios with the wrong version, its FUBAR. He says an external floppy wont work. Is he right ? He wanted to charge me 150 bucks to let me try the external floppy if i insisted. bastard. once last thought: could there be a BIOS/CMOS reset jumper inside the machine ? i have no quarrels about opening it and messing around with it now. if not, i will cannibalize as many parts i can get out of it, and use them for my Arduino projects !
but he is somewht right.. if u got wrong model flshed.. the proper might not flash due to id not matching. usb spi programmer time.!
too much work for a R0 machine, single core Turion.... maybe i can trade some parts from it with someone. Unless i stumble across a USB floppy, i think i am giving up now.
13$.. good tool to have for future. ultimately u can go cheap and use the old BIG Parallel printer port with the program spipgm.exe anda few resistors and caps. and the orange 3.3 volt from psu. i rather pay $13
well its to program SPI bios chip. (when bootblock is chewed up) 1: make a backup.bin of the current bios chip. 2load bios from site and open the backup.bin and the dloadbios.rom and compare the begining and end of the dloadedbios with a match in the backup. 3:merge dload to the backup.bin then save as fix.bin and flash with programmer. 4:test pc.
That part makes sense to me, but what I don't understand is how you actually connect the programmer to everything.
usb to programmer.. then link 2 is the clip on "ic Test clip" (you have to check pinouts to be correct to SPI standard) its 8 pins or desolder chip and use the adapter to the socket if the chip has interference from other components on mobo. this cant be done to proprietary intel Motherbord branded bios and the dload file is encrypted... only chip to chip backup restore. and maybe mod the backup.bin (this is irrelevant to your easynote just a note for general public)
Sorry about the long delay, I have moved! I bougth an USB floppy drive and did what you said. The floppy does not have any activity at all. Are you sure the correct key combo is FN+ESC? THe only thing that happpens is the DVD rom light flashes in sync with the disk usage led in the front of the laptop.
