Hello everyone, I downloaded the VL x86 version of Win 8.1 here and then used Rufus to make a bootable usb. Now when I change the boot priority to Removable device and restart it gives an error : "Boot disk faliure Insert system disk and press Enter" I don't know whats wrong. I used the default settings in rufus. Any help?
I would check your boot setting because it looks like the bios is not trying to boot the usb but is trying to boot the HD instead. If the HD does not have an OS installed for it to boot, then it would give you that error.
The HDD has Win 7 installed but when I try to install Win 8.1 using USB it is not booting and giving the above mentioned error. By the way I am using Asus P5N-D motherboard.
The USB key is not bootable or you did not select the correct bootable option in bios. Is W7 booting MBR or UEFI ? Did you compare SHA-1 from the iso file and the one from MSDN ? Please, give feedback
I selected Removable Drive in boot priority (BIOS). And after that it is not booting from it and giving the boot error option. About MBR and UEFI: I tried searching but I don`t think its UEFI as it is not mentioned in disk management. So I think its MBR. And how do I compare SHA-1 of iso? Update: I checked the SHA-1 of the downloaded file and it is matching with the SHA-1 provided in the first post of this thread. (E46F44CD74F812EC3FE2E854317A088E85322A68)
Then something is wrong with the process of writing the iso file to ur USB key with rufus, try another way to do it.
I tried using two usb pen drive and also tried with both rufus and windows 7 usb/dvd download tool to install Windows 8.1. But getting the same error (Boot disk error) if I try to boot with USB in BIOS. Secondly, I also tried burning the iso to a dvd and tried booting with it and it worked (booted using cd-rom) but when I click on Install it gives and error "media drivers missing". Update: Finally installed win 8.1 without any problems. I found what the problem was. I pressed F8 during startup and that bought the boot menu and from there I selected the usb pendrive which has the win 8.1 install. Then it installed win 8.1. Previously I was pressing the DEL key during boot up which took me to bios and in that under boot options>boot priority I selected removable drive and this was giving me boot error. Anyways, thanks a lot everyone who tried troubleshooting the problem with me.
Do versions of Windows 8.1 Pro VL-N with Update (x64) require a key during installation? Or do you only need to use a key after you've installed and can use the OS?
all VL, including Enterprise, do not require a key for install. After the OS is installed, then a key is required (Microsoft Toolkit will do that for you as well).
Just to make sure I got this right: I may download more than one torrent, just not simultaneously. So I start one torrent first, and after it finishes downloading, I may start another. Is that correct? Also: when my download finishes, won't my seeding help you with distributon? So that if as many of us seed, less people will have to wait in queues and less strain will be put on the jukebox? Apologies for the noobish questions.
Hi, I have a Windows 8 Pro retail version. I'm currently running Windows 7. I want to Download the 8.1 Pro X64 iso, reason being I want to have 8.1 installed (fresh install for os & steam - my current installation is kind of corrupted) before pre-loading GTA V. I'm hoping Windows 8.1 will give me a few fps more.... & then the Windows 10 auto-install should be smoother from 8.1 to 10 compared to 7 to 10 (I'm hoping) My question is if I download this torrent and then do a clean install I will have to re-install a torrent program so as to continue seeding. would that be fine for me to do ? Also what is the main difference in the en-gb compared to the en-us version ? is it just the spelling or is the keyboard layout by default different ? oh & My Windows 8 install disc is en-gb would I have any activation issues by using a 8.1 Pro X64 en-us iso ?
might want to check the red words in the first post before you jump into them all at once. And awesome if it works out
