Just hang on to that though and you may just be on Win10 before you know it. They have done it------and they will do it again and again and again M$ has even said themselves that they will do it! But your safe, just uncheck that little box
Could you please link to where there is specific evidence of the upgrade coming in as a security update? Because that's my point here. I'm not going to read through 157 posts looking for something I do not expect to ever find. Clearly the screenshot in that thread's initial post shows KB2952664 installed, which is a recommended update. That's something that simply won't get installed when you have auto-installation of recommended updates disabled, so what's that supposed to prove?
@100: It's not about proof. It's about relevance of discussions. If you want to engage someone in windows 10 topics, then please do so in those threads specifically created for them. This thread, and this subsection is about Windows 7 and it's issues. Have a nice day.
Well my win 7 Ultimate is immune to win 10 nags and have downloaded all updates. Anyway on this computer I want to stay on win7.
Of course it's about proof. Because what you're basically saying here is that spreading unfounded FUD such as oldsh_t's reply to me is acceptable for a technical forum, and that is in no way relevant to any discussion. Thanks. I'll keep this in mind for when I bring up an actual Windows 10 topic.
@100: Actually, You're the one doing the saying. I'm simply asking you to stick to the topic at hand. "Not getting Windows 10 nag updates in Windows 7". As far as what oldsh_t said about having Windows 10 nag updates sneaked into your windows 7 machine goes, Why are you in this thread (In the Windows 7 subforum to boot) debating whether or not it's true? If Microsoft wasn't sneaking Windows 10 nag garbage into Windows 7 / 8.x machines, this post wouldn't even exist. And there would be no need for Me to waste my time explaining this to you. Keep that in mind...
Because I'm convinced he's talking out of his ass. And because the question of whether or not it's true fully applies to the topic at hand. And if people opted out of the default of receiving the "nag garbage" this post wouldn't exist either. And since discussion on that fully applies to the topic at hand as well I'm having a hard time seeing what you're taking issue with here. Maybe you should stop wasting your time. Edit: And still you try to continue the irrelevant off-topic discussion that you so despise. I'm done though.
@100: So, why not go to the thread that I pointed out you to and tell everyone over there that they are talking out of their ass, Instead of wasting your time (and our time) here, trying to start an argument in this thread. oldsh_t has posted that same reply over there. Have at it.
I do not have enough posts to post a "link" to the item I would like you to read. But please copy this search criteria into Google: "Woody On Windows" + "KB3112343" This should take you to the article in question. And please - do not be naive. Microsoft is laying the ground work for this Win 10 invasion by any means possible. They know that most folks will continue to believe that "important" security updates will make Joe User leave WU in it's "Install Updates Automatically" mode. They want people to believe that security is a Microsoft priority. This specific update that came in as "important" actually modifies the Windows Update engine to make a target machine easier to accept what's to come - which will most likely be the Win 10 upgrade as an "important" update in 2016. There is no agreement saying they cannot slip required elements into your install via "security" updates. Code is code and all they want to do is get it in place - quietly. Sonic.
I have a older motherboard and it runs eveything I throw at it so I upgrade to 10 then guess what I'm the one who's trying find drivers for it not M$ but if M$ wants to buy me a new MB then hell I'll upgrade or downgrade how ever you see it.
OK..... Your Right!!.... I'm talking out of my ass......... Sorry I upset you!! Set your auto updates any way you like. Happy Now??
I have a hard time figuring out the point to this and similar threads. We can stay with Windows 7, just turn off automatic updates and choose what updates we want manually, and be happy. Or go ahead and upgrade to Windows 10 and be happy. Or waste thousands of posts bashing MS about how they nag us to move to Win 10, how Win 10 is spying on us (but almost everybody is these days) , etc., and be unhappy.
