Thank you, I am quite aware of those two facts. MDL seems to be a rather trustworthy site, where intelligent and correct advice is (usually) given... On the other hand the fact of the success of a corporation like M$ and several others I will not name, tells me, that the level of awareness of teh average digital tool user is not far above of the, let us say, "average voter"? As far as the Magic Mountain is concerned I have to admit that getting older, my attitude towards the positive idea about progress that Settembrini proposes, is getting less and less positive.... which of course is in tune with your Einstein quote @oldsh_t Thank you I suspected that, maybe my question should have been: How sensible is it to install all these M$ updates? Is the risk of installing these updates greater than the risk of using a computer that has a security leak that might be dangerous once every 7000 years for two of 2 billion users? Does "security update" mean my security, or does it mean the economical security of M$ shareholders? After all, we all KNOW what M$ did with its Win10 installation "updates"´, don't we? @100 Am I mistaken or are the "security bulletins" written by.... M$?
"The positive thing about the sceptic is that he considers everything possible." ―Thomas Mann No, you don't. Don't mistake people's paranoia and incompetence as evidence of deception. What's your point? What, specifically, is it that you are concerned about regarding MS16-008, for instance?
Proof from reputable sources ≠ paranoia and incompetence. Get off your high horse with your ridiculous attitude.
Sure. Just show me one update labeled "Security update for Windows 7" and why it should be considered "bad". Should be easy enough when there's proof from reputable sources.
.... my edit above .... Thank you ! I hear that sound again .... it's a nail being hit firmly on the head On another forum , I said that I had disabled all Updates and only turned them on again once a month , a week after " Botch Tuesday" . By this time there are always plenty of warnings on various forums regarding which updates are rotten to the core . I was called "foolish " for using this strategy , because I would " miss any out-of-band updates " , and this was from a moderator ! It's all quite comical really
Excuse me just want to clear some points about updating, okay I'm just an average windows user and I have been trying to update my installation X17-59463 lot of times but just can't make it to work ending up using it every time I do a fresh install and it became my habit to use my machine without installing any update past the release for some reasons. I haven't had any issues so far well that I'm aware of but I want to know if X17-59463 release is enough if not could you please enlighten me a bit?
Way to twist the words to placate your lopsided argument. I was talking about this: Uhh yes we do, it's been widely covered to the point of repetition online and caused people to start petitions and threaten legal action. However, you refuse to acknowledge it either way, so I'm wasting my time. Good day.
My point? I repeat it for you: "How sensible is it to install all these M$ updates? Is the risk of installing these updates greater than the risk of using a computer that has a security leak that might be dangerous once every 7000 years for two of 2 billion users? " The fact that you consider the telemetry updates forcing Win10 down others throats to be paranoia, does not make you a reliable helper, when it comes to the question I asked....
All the updates? Absolutely not. Security updates? Absolutely. I assume you're exaggerating here, so I'll give you an answer that's actually relevant: The risk installing all those security updates is much lower than not doing so. Well, the fact that you're instantly dismissing the security bulletins accompanying the updates you asked about just because they were written by the developers doesn't make it look like you even care about what the update is supposed to do. Also, I consider telemetry and the "forced" Windows 10 upgrade two very different things.
So - I am about to do our Saturday patch process - and I see that KB2952664 is being seeded to my Windows 7 Enterprise edition as an optional patch. This specific items is a known Windows 10 nagware and telemetry gathering patch. Just wondering why it's even being pushed to an Enterprise install? I will be ignoring it as usual. Cheers! Sonic.
Only the upgrade & its nagware is not seeded to Enterprise, all other nagwares are applicable for all
It's a compatibility and telemetry appraiser, regardless the edition is eligible for upgrade or not so yes, it's seeded for all client editions and this applies to the telemetry client itself (updates KB3068708, KB3080149)
