I see, sounds like a ridiculous bug the strip in the middle.. Nor does it work "ok" as you need some limited png cause when it gets to big it stops working completly, proably the reason i never came across it a 2000x2160 PNG isnt exactly small if its a whole Picture :\
I don't consider it a bug. It's supposed to be 3 layers on the Start Screen (withinwindows.com/2011/09/18/dissecting-the-new-windows-8-start-ui-layers-images-and-colors-oh-my/) These guys just got past it by using a transparent PNGs in shsxs.dll, resource items 5231 and 5232. That's why you can see right 'through' the Background (strip) to see the Background Image behind it.
Hum? im not sure what you are talking about, yes the Startscreen consists of a Color, Image and Tiles, i too use a transparent image to just see the color behind to get rid of the Strip. I can't get the Picture method to work how i want it, the scaling is off here so i have to playaround with the poisition of my "background" and "empty" space so i don't have to upscale the picture, and when i scroll it doesnt do a Parallax effect (use the picture again) but strechtes the last pixels for me, so its ugly. I'll stick with flat background for now, maybe we can actually choose a Background in beta (but i doubt it as you need a proper Image to allow Parallax)
really like that colour.. so hello everyone, new here, been pm about this site to answer my windows 8 questions here. so i have a few (sorry if im wasting your time) 1. is their a way to disable it so it loads desktop right away? (like in windows 7 no login screens or nothing) 2. does anyone with a dual core feel a difference with windows 8 with this on?
It bothered me that my Login screen was still green for my LiveID account but wasn't green for my Local one, so i figured i can change that.. well didn't even take one minute to find, figure out and change, here you go. With this you can also have a different color for your Logon if you don't like to have the same as in the Startscreen. Code: %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\WallpaperSettings.ini [Main] GradientColor= GradientColor is controlling it, Removing it will use the same color you have as background on your Startscreen. But if you keep it you can use your own color, I'm not sure what Color Mechanic it's using, its DEC to HEX though. You can also edit some of the Colors your Desktop applications use and HighContrast. Have fun stealing and taking credit for yourself, though... Just credit MDL, thanks.
Very nice, I used it with the blue Metro Styled Start Orb from this pack, looks the same as your program's icon hecustomizewindows.com/2011/04/windows-8-styled-metro-start-orb-pack
BluePoison 2.1 just came out today. windows8italia.com/2011/05/windows-8-bluepoison-official-download.html
Yeah I tried it. It gives the option to disable Metro, add Application Folder to desktop and download and install Themes from their theme gallery via single click. My theme is in there, the last in the list called Moar Tiles
