Hi. I need some help. I am getting an error when trying to mod the bios for a gateway mt6840 laptop.

I downloaded the latest bios from gateway, which is 77.15. This is also the same bios that is installed on the laptop.

I then tried to find a gateway 2.1 slic file. I read somewhere that there is no gateway 2.1 slic file available because Gateway is now Acer, so I went ahead and selected "other" for the manufacturer in phoenixtool, and loaded the acer 2.1 slic file.

Next, I loaded the RW file, and the program auto selected "dynamic".

When verifying the cert, I got a message that "Pubkey in MOD_4A00.ROM does NOT match certificate (x1)" which is expected since I am changing the vendor from gateway to acer.

I then hit go, and got an error message stating "Unable to reintegrate MOD_4A00.ROM," and the status displays "failed."

The log shows the following error:

New BIOSCOD1.ROM Module is 34 bytes too small
    ** BIOSCOD1.ROM reintegrated successfully
New MOD_4A00.ROM Module is 5 bytes too big
New MOD_4A00.ROM Module is 5 bytes too big
    MOD_4A00.ROM not reintegrated

any idea on what went wrong?

Nothing...use the Toshiba TOSINV00 SLIC. It is more compressible.
