    Thanks Tito

on a side question, how long does it take for the bios to rewrite, i typed in the new file name and saved the last one, but it has been on the same screen now for about 5minutes, with the bottom part where it asks for your approval y/n answer just saying "Message:"

    locked screen looks like this

    AwardBIOS Flash Utility V8.94
(C)Phoenix Technologies Ltd. All Rights Reserved
    ----------------------------------------------
    For 1.0.3-6A79O009C-00 Date:06/20/2008
    Flash Type -

File Name to Program : 7b1d1p19.bin
Save current BIOS as : old.bin

    -----------------------------------------------
    Message:

Restarted it and it apparently never started, its doing the same thing where it gets stuck at step 4

    4. After saving the BIOS it will confirm if you want to continue with the overwrite. Type "Y" for yes and it will begin the write process.

Any idea why it would get stuck here?

    Hi Ipmark,

I have an Acer Aspire 4741G notebook with BIOS version 1.31. As mentioned that the new BIOS has the SLIC table 2.1, I would appreciate it if you could send its certificate file and OEM key file for Windows 7 ultimate or a download link where I can retrieve the file.

    Thanks,

    xingalaxy:biggrin:

Could someone please mod this BIOS to SLIC 2.1? I found a link in the Dell thread but the link to the modded BIOS is dead :(
    Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop
    Link to unmodded BIOS: w.w.w.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/DriverFileFormats?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&DriverId=R206901

    Thank you so much!

    Hi serg008,

I am sorry this has come at such a late point in time, but I just wanted to let you know that I took your advice on the upgrade to win7, I added the cert to my $OEM$ folder on my multiboot thumb drive, and it worked like a dream, (apart from when I forgot to take out the thumb drive and it tried to re-install itself again) lol...
I upgraded the ram from 2GB to 8GB, and what an incredible difference.

I would also like to thank Tito for his input as well.
I'm hoping you get to read this as I really did appreciate both of your time and effort in helping me.
