Unfortunately was unable to update bios within windows OS using winflash (same as current version). Is there a method to flash from CD (USB non bootable on this device) or to force flash within windows?

it is bootable.. go to F2 bios. goto Boot. then select +HDD .. in it is usb in second spot.. highlight it press F6 (to move it to first position)
    then F10 to save
(this makes it first boot HDD aka USB flash.. not second)

i cant find a satellite M40X-189 . i do find -184.. got a support page for it ? ( so i can see if they have a cd or floppy version that includes the proper version phlash16.. i was flashing older toshiba other day and used phlash16 version 1.6.7.? and it failed after 3 tries.. i found the 1.6.5.5 worked)

Thank you for the help i downloaded Phlash167 and using the bios file you provided was able to successfully update.

@555LE I am unfamiliar with the parameters within PHLASH.ini so have absolutely no clue what settings to change or what to change them to. But thank you for you time as well. Peace to all :)
