I greatly appreciate the time you took to dig that up for me. a Question though. When it's non- whitelisted, that only pertains to changing the WIFI card right? If it is, that's not what I'm trying to accomplish. I've had nothing but Trouble with this laptop, since I've installed Win7 on it. the Video drivers seem to be locked to HP releases only, and was hoping a modified BIOS might solve that problem. Also, If the file modified is the same filename and BIOS revision as mine, even though its from a different Series/Model of laptop, is it still safe to flash? i apologize for the Newb questions, I have searched for two days for these answers and cant find ANYTHING definite, or for my specific Model, its always a model up or down. Thanks again for your time.
Are you sure that you used latest one from Nvidia driver?? There should be no such protection in bios...
Yeah, i just get either an "hardware not detected" error or a "Your manufacturer requires you to use a driver from there website" error... Perhaps it isnt a bios issue. But with that aside, the bios currently shows VISTA as the installed OS, but Its actually Win 7. I dunno, maybe i'm fighting a losing battle, and dont really need to flash a bios mod? What do you think?
Its just DMI data. Older bioses of HP in Vista era have that parameter to control the SLIC. Newer have the option to set it 7 and/or 8. It really doesn't matter
So is that just Cosmetic info in the BIOS? Not really useful for anything... and thanks for the replies... you've been a huge help.
Noop... not cosmetic. Its a parameter... non-Vista means parts of SLIC is disabled. Vista/7 means SLIC is unlocked.
SO let me ask this. My Windows 7 is genuine already, but still shows VISTA (not changeable) in the BIOS, do I need to find a SLIC modded BIOS? or leave it the way it is? Sorry for all the questions, just want to make the right decision the first time
I got the laptop second hand from Craigslist, and win7 was already on it, I'm assuming its a legit License ID. System info shows Windows 7 as "Activated". Now here's something I don't understand. The case shows "Pavilion DV9000" The service tag shows "dv9610us" and the BIOS shows as DV9500. is that Normal?
