I am working on it now...were you able to use CRISDISK and get yoiur computer going again... I have no idea of what happened...the mod went smooth and seamless when I modified your bios today.
I can't use usb stick so I have to find a floppy somewhere. Last time, the flashing process is very normal, but after it finish and auto reboot, the screen is blank . The power and bluetooth leds are all on, the harddisk led is on for 3 secs, others are off. My computer is NEC Versa E6500!!! I wish I can provide more information on that but it's all I observed. Btw, my bios flash file is so big (~2M). How can I store it in only a floppy 1.44M? Thank for still researching on that
No..I meant when you ordered the machine, did it come with an OS???? I think this was either a freedos machine, no OS, or XP downgrade..But I could be wrong..It is important to know..
No, it has to go on a usb disc or CD. You cant very well shrink the bios file ....You can make a bootable USB drive, yes?????
lol. sorry . I bought it from CompUSA a few years back. It came with XP Pro OEM. Back when vista first came out I found on this forum a modded bios to add slic 2.0 and it worked. I can activate vista. or at least I was able to. I still have the backup of my slic 2.0 bios. so far none of the bios modds iv tried are taking. the flash goes good but slic dump is bad i guess. thanks again for your help. mrchris
Yep, but I try usb stick for bios recovery already, no use (since on the recovery guide, it's shown that % success for usb stick is low). Now I have only one way is to use floppy disk, which has capacity 1.44M only
You have to get into bios by pressing F1 or F10 and change the boot order to USB Hard Drive. All Presarios and Pavilions have that function.
