Try yourself with PBE to see if any locked tab in it.

    ?

If I knew what PBE is and how to discover if there is any locked tab inside my BIOS I wouldn't post here. Care to elaborate?

    Okay, I checked.

There ARE hidden options, to be precise there is a hidden option to change the CPU's multiplier (overclock) and there is another hidden option which is to enable Hyperthreading technology.

Both these settings would be very useful, as I could change my CPU to a P4 CPU with HT (+20% performance) as well as OC the new or old CPU up to 3.0/3.2 GHz.
The above is the warning that came with PBE. Since I am not knowledgeable with BIOS modding, I guess I will leave the modding to someone who knows what he is doing.

would prejudice the bios modified with slic 2.1 for sony vaio vgn n38z_w, r0100j4 bios version, I tried the version r0104j4, but winplash I see error:
corrupted interface descriptors in the new bios
platform signature not found in the interface.
    error code - 103

    -Manufacturer: Sony vaio vgn n38z
    -Motherboard Model:
    -Bios revision: r0100j4
    -Bios Type: Phoenix BIOS

are managed by seven 32bit (64bit felt before) to load the bos r0104j4 but I changed the slic 2.1 in the bios
I thought it was ready and modified.
unfortunately there is a link to the original bios of sony, sorry.

    thanks
