    Thanks for the quick reply. I'm curious to understand why it can't be modified since it already had SLIC 2.0.
    Is there a simple rule that I can follow to determine which BIOS's can be modded?

    I have a Compaq sr1750nx that I want to upgrade the SLIC to 2.1. I searched the website and found a mod for it. The mod was for a BIOS version of 3.13. The current bios version is 3.03. I downloaded the 3.13 BIOS from HP but it will not update. The PC currently has a retail version of Windows 7 Ultimate retail but I no longer have the DVD. I want to do a clean install so I thought I would put on W7 Pro. Can I install the 3.13 Modded BIOS even though the original BIOS is 3.03 or do I need to install XP to upgrade the 3.03 bios to the 3.13 HP bios?
