i don't believe modding the BIOS to have a SLIC 2.1 will have any affect on your USB ports recognizing your Hard Drive. Updating to a SLIC 2.1 reaaly will only let you activate Windows 7 with a matching certificate offline.
has the USB hard drive ever worked before? when did your trouble begin? Can you attach a FlashDrive/USB PenDrive

ok it worked with win xp and vista, it stoped working with win 7, what happens is 3 of the 4 ports are 1.1 and one is 2.0 the 1.1 ports when i attach a hd to them will just let the hard drive power on and no recognition is there, the 2.0 will say device not recognized your device has malfunctioned, it will try to install a driver and it will fale, in device manager it will show up as unknown device. i tried everything. the drivers are installed properly and any other thing accept hd or usb drive works. but i really want to change my bios cause this version has no options in it really, i heard slic 2.1 has more options

and the drivers you are using are official whql WINDOWS 7 drivers
cause what you are talking about sounds like a driver issue

is your current BIOS the most recent available

    Thx a lot

i never did this so can you list how to do it step by step? and what kind of risk is in upgrating the bios to slic? if it tanks wouldnt the only thing i would have to do is take out the bios battery and it would go back to last bios v?

cool so you sure this bios update will work on a pavillion dv8301nr? cause like i said the sp version on the zip is dif, and also what are the steps for doing this :) i will take a chance (cause besides being able to activate win 7 it has more options as the phenix bios osux because of the fact it has no options at all accept turning on wifi and boot order

i don't think this would work... because you have another BIOS ID :)
And i am sure this BIOS is not for you.

Have you upload a RW EVERYTHING REPORT (looking first post)? Can't see one.

you really need to do some more reading i think you are confused as to what is being done in the forum section, if you flash your BIOS and it bricks it, its not as simple as removing the battery and its reset to the last version. like mooni stated you would need to either attempt a recovery method or purchase a new BIOS chip
all the symptoms that you described earlier really sound like driver issues .SLIC 2.1 and SLP 1 can be implemented but i really don't think that will solve your problems
