ALWAYS FLASH YOUR BIOS IN DOS !!! Flashing in windows is just begging for s**t hitting the fan. I guess ur lucky u can still make it past post. Busykid must have given u the specific task to flash using a dos-based flashtool and a bootable usb-stick or floppy. U need to follow his instructions very precisely if u want it to be a succes. cheers
phlash16 should be a compatible dos-flasher for your mobo. u could try that. but that's my advice, maybe u should wait for busykid... just trying to help...
Well I was following instructions included with the bios mod.. But I hesitate after first try and will wait for more advice before trying XP-tool or DOS based flash and wait until I'm back home from work IF I brick it I could use another laptop, right now I'm kinda stuck with the Vaio... thx anyway
Sony are always most difficult to flash....When you use a SONY always use the flash utility that is made for a SONY.....try using the XP Flash utility that came with it.
Kind of stuck myself with an Amilo. Seems there's an Asus slic 2.0 in my bios that i can't get rid of. Tried Voatk tools, but without succes. I think i'm gonna have to flash with an original bios-file bfore providing a new RW-report. We'll see...
@busykid i used it twice, and all bootloaders, cr**cks and stuff are removed according to voatk. but bios still shows the asus slic. Maybe if i flash the bios with an original version from the vendor's site ? It should be gone then, no ? notebook : fujitsu siemens amilo li1818 bios:1.14c bios type : phoenix bios rw-report showed asus slic. instructed to remove with voatk tools
with the XP tool and the creation of an phlash.ini file in the same directory I was able to flash my bios successfully. Without the phlash.ini the winphlash complianed that the BIOS was the same as the original and stopped. Didn't figure which switch would make an /force so using the phlash.ini solved that problem. Code: [UI] Advanced=1 UpdateMode=3 hideall=0 [Main] FormatVersion=2 UpdateFlags=910920 UserFlags=910120 UserMask=d121a4 PSIFlags=20 UserMode=ffffffff RetryCount=3 UpdateMode=3 ImageFile=R0112N0.WPH BackupFile=BIOS.BAK Of course anybody else need to change the ImageFile=XXXX to reflect their BIOS file. Thank you!
Try with the phlash.ini file as above in my post OR figure out which commandline switch to use to force phlash16 to flash your BIOS file anyway (force an flash even when the bios image is the same or older..)
