I opened the bios in ami mod tool and it gives error saying "not ami bios". I'm telling you that CPU-Z is showing as phoenix bios. And also in boot screen. please check.
If you can extract the bios file from the executable, I will modify it and let's flash in DOS....I cannot extract the file.... you will be able to
Then it is an Award...NEVER EVER has Asus had a Phoenix Bios....it won't happen....It won't open in my phoenix editor
Its either Award or UEFI. ASUS is moving to the EFI firmware quickly.. I will bet it is Award still, always has been and most likely will not change.. I am puzzled how you can expect to mod and flash a bios without knowing for sure what you hope to accomplish, and with what firmware you are using. Maybe an information upgrade is in order along with the bios upgrade???
Ah that makes sense. Looks like cpu-z got it wrong. Yes it does open in tool for award bios. sorry my bad.
CPU-Z is not wrong...The string it is reading is most likely Phoenix-Award...Its a throw back...Award became its own back in the late 90's...Phoenix and Award bios a very different animals these days...Thank *Deity*...
Sorry missed this post. If I understand correctly, are you asking why I need to mod the bios? Well, I think you know why. Same reason as everyone else here! I don't want to hijack this thread into irrelevant discussion. Sorry. But I admit I got it wrong. I simply took CPU-Z word for it and though it was pure phoenix bios. I didn't know there was a "phoenix award" bios. Thanks anyway guys, I'll check the other thread out that was given by busykid.
As long as your vista was activated as a HP as well, then SLIC 2.1 is designed to be backward compatable with 2.0, in short yes, you can still dual boot for now
