need help hi i am trying to permanently remove computrace from my dell vostro 1710 and read alot of forums that state finding the opt rom and changing all the values to zeros then recompiling the bios is the way to go. and on other sites have read that part of the computrace is stored in the nvram and i would have to cause a smbios failure to reload the nvram.... now i have phoenix editor and found the computrace string but i am a little hesitant to load the module with all zeros what do you think??? I also read a blog from corelabs that says we could change the bios values for the http address that computrace calls on to anything i want so if i point it to a non existent site would that work???? my last and final idea is that it is a pci opt rom if im not mistaken is there anyway to remove the whole opt rom or will the laptop cease to function??? Any help is muchly appreciated thanks in advance hopefully we can work this out and be some of the first people to actively remove computrace permanently... Oh and just to finish off i changed the service tag id and it does not allow you the option to disable computrace again like some ppl are sayin on the net... I have DST iso for the dell laptops as well if you need....
