    hi busykid..
    i had opted the same process which is mentioned but still i m reduing as per the procedure. this might be due to the board is of hp pavilion dv2401tu and bios is of compaq prisario v3000 as mentioned in the above post....
    i'm even ready for replacing the bios chip if it bunrs, but let us give a try......

    Hello Michie,
    I noticed your running an Alienware m17 ... I just bought one and will get it in a few days... could you possibly post a link to the Modded bios your using? I assume its an slic 2.1 ??

    Added microcode or just a slic..he doesnt want SLIC for Vista/W7..he needs microcode for additional CPU support...:cool::rolleyes:
